So, I haven't actually been diagnosed or anything, but I have been worried that I might have ADHD. Sometimes (well it's actually pretty often) I focus so much on something (like tumblr) that I forget to do even the most basic self-care things like sleeping or brushing my teeth etc. I talked to my mom about it, but she said that I don't have it because I'm "too smart." And when I was like "okay" she kept saying she'd take me to get looked at (but she meant so she could be proven right) Idk, sorry
No worries, my friend, there’s no reason to be sorry!
Unfortunately, this isn’t an uncommon problem for many adhd-ers. Particularly if you're not a hyper active little boy.
IQ has no correlation with adhd. So, you can have adhd with a high IQ, you can have adhd with a low IQ, or you can have adhd with an average IQ. None of this has any impact on whether or not you have adhd.
The problem is, though, that a high IQ can “mask” adhd and you can do good in school until a certain point and fall apart in later years or you can even make it to college or adulthood in general before things get tough because suddenly you have more responsibilities now and none of the routine or help you had as a young child.
It’s good she’s willing to take you to get looked at! It could be helpful to go even if her motivator is to be “proven right”. It could very well prove her wrong! Just explain what’s going on and that you’re worried it’s causing problems or affecting you negatively and if a medical professional agrees that you have adhd she may come around!

I hope this helps!
