THE FORESHADOWING!!!! this whole episode was just me going “WHY DID I GASP I ALREADY KNEW THAT” i’m so happy they pretty much kept a lot of the good bits like THE OMELETTES AND EVEN WILL LEAVING PAYMENT FOR STUFF HE’S TAKING CUZ HE’S SUCH A GOOD BOY and LYRA AND WILL BICKERING BUT ALSO SHARING SMILES AND LOOKS ALREADY AND ALREADY BEING SO IN SYNC AND PAN IMMEDIATELY FALLING IN LOVE WITH WILL RIGHT AWAY BUT LYRA BEING RELUCTANT BECAUSE SHE’S BEEN BURNED BY HER PARENTS AND IT REALLY HAS ONLY BEEN ONE EPISODE AND THIS LYRA AND WILL ARE MORE PERFECT THAN MY ADOLESCENT SELF COULD EVER IMAGINE I’M SO HAPPY

From what I’ve seen the new trilogy is just him setting up a whole new prophecy that says “here’s how Will/Lyra can still win!” and then proceeding to follow through with that exactly ZERO percent in favor of instead sticking her with Will-Lite and making some bs point about how growing up means that you need to move on.
