🎅I was recently asked why some trees grow with twisted trunks? 🌲 ▶️ In the great north🇫🇮🇫🇴🇮🇸🇳🇴🏴 sunlight is very precious, so trees tend to grow more leaves/needles and branches of their ☀️ southern side, 💨 but strong winds often come from the west, or east. This tends to push the trunk around in a spiral as the tree grows - 🌍 most often in a clockwise direction in the northern hemisphere. This very much helps the tree stay stronger against these winds. Radiata pines often have twisted trunks, and if you collect the pine seeds and grow them somewhere else, the new tree will very probably have a tsisted trunk x well! This is epigenetics at work...⚛ #forestbathing #shinrinyokustudies #divine_forest #tree_masters #afs_trees #raw_alltrees #splendid_woodlands #science #horticulture #greenmoments #fromscratch #natureshots https://www.instagram.com/p/B2n-ssHh9Im/?igshid=1isbchh8uweek
