wow what i actually finished the last two crazy right. wasnt expecting to finish them i usually dont finish things if i wait like a week in between. anyway it is ridiculously hard to think of outfits on the fly lmao

im almost done drawing another thing with actual effort but in the meantime have this. the proportions are a little wonked bc i traced the original and didnt realize until too late that elmira had a giant fucking arm and andras was built like a beer barrel. i tried fixing it a little but then i lost interest.

Traps vs Andras - pg 1

holy hell thats a lot of fire. 78 layers of it. this was fun.

alright. on to the morally not-good-at-all vultures.

so this is local dickhead traps here, modelling for us an example of a bad vulture. Vultures already have a bad name to begin with, and aren’t actually bad folks, they just get shit they dont deserve. vultures frown upon killing for collections, and generally insist that nobody is killed for the sake of collecting (i mean im sure there are those who will vouch for euthanasia but we already understand that there is a moral spectrum etc).

some vultures will straight up murder deities that have interesting mutations in order to collect. thats pretty much it.

traps now, we know escaped into exile after his betrayal to become a contract killer. he very likely got involved with Vultures, possibly because he was hired by a collector who wanted certain mutations to add to his collection and didnt care how he got them.

this drawing i guess is just to showcase that the vulture masks all vary in appearance and design, and i headcanon traps as having a very pointy beaked mask. also its not common knowledge at all who’s a vulture and whos not, so its not like one vulture to another is gonna say “oh yeah that one wanted deity is one of us". vultures are anonymous; its a great place to hide, whether you’re a wanted man or not.

First Impressions (pt 4/4)

Aimi pouted. “Fine. But you’ll tell me when he comes around next time, right?”

Syne nodded and smiled. “Alright, if you insist.”

The girl, Aimi, ran away and out of sight. Andras looked at the spot where she was, bewildered.

“What’s a flight class kid doing here?” Trepanin said, bemused.

“Flight class? But, they have wings, right?” And not four eyes and know his name before he says it?

“Some of them can bind their wings out of sight,” Trepanin said. “But she’s probably too young for her wings to come in yet.”

“How did you know she’s flight class, then?”

“Did you see her chicken feet?”

“Oh.”

Trepanin led him out of the sharp stone building and back to the portal entrance. They had to wait a few minutes for the portal to reopen to the Forest Biome.

“You’re lucky,” Trepanin said. “Syne said you have great potential.”

“Which one was Syne?”

“The one in the center, has three eyes.”

“Oh,” Andras said, then asked, “is that common here?”

“Extra eyes? No. It’s the mark of seer powers.”

“Seer?” Andras thought back to his lessons with Sabine, trying to remember what it meant.

“She sees the future.”

Andras blinked. “Woah,” he said, a bit dazed. “So, when she says I have potential, she…”

“Knows whether or not you can use that potential, yeah.”

Andras thought of the girl with four eyes.

“Is Syne the only seer?”

“Yep. There are deities with seer powers, but they end up having to either seal the powers away or go crazy. So far, Syne’s the only one who can handle the visions.”

“Oh.”

The portal finally opened, the familiar swirl of color beckoning them forward. After they entered, Trepanin grinned at him.

“You know what this means, right?”

“Um...you get to train me to be part of the next generation of warrior deities?”

“Yep. And you have to cut that stupid braid off.”

“Aw, man…”

“Syne, why didn’t you tell me I was going to meet Andras today?” Aimi whined to her mentor.

Syne smiled. “First impressions are very important, I’ve come to learn. Not knowing made you more honest and sincere.”

Aimi pouted. “Fine. But you’ll tell me when he comes around next time, right?”

Syne nodded and smiled. “Alright, if you insist.”

First Impressions (pt 3/4)

She stopped, but only to say quickly, “Right. I forgot. I’m Aimi, I’ll see you soon!”

“Ahead of schedule?” Andras said, confused. “What do you mean?”

“Nothing!” she said quickly. “I was just--wondering why you were in the gardens!” Andras could easily see the evasion, but the girl seemed convinced she fooled him, so he decided to play along. “I mean, it’s real pretty an’ all, but everyone’s usually at the market, and not a lot of people care about plants here anyway--”

The girl went on talking, and Andras felt a little overwhelmed by how at ease she was with strangers. Maybe kids were different in the Main Biome?

“So...do you live here, in the Main Biome?” Andras asked when the girl paused to take a breath.

“No.” She didn’t elaborate, and Andras hated this conversation, it was so awkward--

“Oi,” said a voice from the entrance. It was Trepanin, done with his private council meeting. “Time to go.”

“Oh, I’ll see you later then, Andras!” the girl said, smiling. She darted to the edge of the gardens, and to the exit.

“Wait--” Andras called out, because he was positive he didn’t give her his name.

She stopped, but only to say quickly, “Right. I forgot. I’m Aimi, I’ll see you soon!”

First Impressions (pt 2/4)

The girl merely nodded and said, “Okay. But what are you doing here, anyway? You’re way ahead of schedule--wait, um...I mean…” she trailed off, looking like she had accidentally spilled a secret.

The three-eyed lady raised an eyebrow at Trepanin. “The Forest Biome--you did not choose from the trainees in the Mountain Biome.”

It wasn’t a question, so Trepanin didn’t answer. Andras tried not to fidget uncomfortably when the three eyes focused on him again. Even though she was looking at him, she wasn’t seeing him so much as looking through him. He wished Trepanin had told him about the people on the council, instead of just telling him to behave.

‘You will become an accomplished warrior, Andras.” His shoulders jerked and his tail flicked sharply in surprise. “Learn well under Trepanin.”

“Thank you, Lady Syne,” Trepanin said--his face was blank. “If that will be all…?”

“Just a moment, Trepanin. We must speak with you alone,” another council member said.

Andras gulped and looked up at his new mentor. He looked resigned and frustrated.

“Go wait outside, Andras. Explore the grounds, but don’t go too far.”

He nodded, and began to wonder if the door was soundproof so he could listen in. Trepanin said sneaking was the foundation of his training--

“And don’t go too close either,” the three-eyed lady said. Andras gulped; she couldn’t read minds, could she?

The lady smiled, the first expression he’d seen her reveal. “Go on,” she said, waving a graceful hand.

The door shut behind him with a loud thud. Andras considered listening at the door anyway, but decided not to. He didn’t want a mind reader out for his blood.

He walked around the stone building, wanting to squint at the white stone with sharp edges. He turned a corner, and felt immediate joy at seeing a garden--the first plants he’d seen in this weird place. The joy faded into confusion when he saw how...controlled it was. All the hedges were trimmed into strange, unnatural squares. The colorful flowers were grouped together by hue, creating a mandala of life. It made Andras a little queasy.

He was so focused on the freakish garden he didn’t notice the figure behind him until he nearly ran into it when he turned around.

“AH!” Andras yelped. The figure standing creepily behind him was a girl--the girl with the paint on her face he’d seen before. Only now he could tell it wasn’t actually paint--it was another pair of eyes. She had four eyes.

What the fuck?

The four-eyed girl looked surprised. “You!” she said in a strange voice. Did he know this girl? She seemed to recognize him from somewhere.

“Er, hello,” he replied, not knowing what to say. “Uh...um...” Gah--screw manners, he had to know. “You have four eyes.”

She blinked the four black and yellow spheres (black sclera usually means Mountain Biome..but she doesn’t have the paws, so…?)

“Well, yeah,” she replied, like it was the most normal thing in the world. “And you have two eyes.” The weird girl circled around him, taking in his dark complexion, his grey training clothes, and long braid of black hair, standing in stark contrast to the colorful garden around him.

“You have the tail, too!” she seemed ridiculously excited at this fact. She held out her hand to touch it, and he immediately backed away ten feet and held his tail protectively.

There was a long, awkward silence, with both children just staring at each other until Andras coughed uncomfortably and said, “Don’t touch my tail--er, please.”
