Worldbuilding: politics from before there was life until now
Okay, let me explain a few things. When Aimi and Andras are born, the biomes are mostly peaceful. Each biome has their own small government, and the main biome (I'm calling it this because i don't know what to call it yet) acts as their center of all biome relations. The main biome has been inhabited and (mostly) civilized the longest, and most of the elder deities (or demons, or creatures of candlelight) that are still around live there (ex Elmira). There are no wars between the biomes, though there is a little tension between some still. While the main biome has a lot of power, there are lots of laws in place that prevent it from becoming a dictatorship, like checks and balances. And while some biomes dislike each other, none of them want to become slaves to someone else. In Syne's time, things were different. Not all the biomes were inhabited, and the ones that were constantly fought for power and land. When Syne was taken, a large group of deities was quickly taking over with their empire. When they enslaved Syne and her powers of prediction, they were unstoppable. However, once it became clear that this group was taking power and enslaving classes, the remaining biomes joined forces (even while they hated each other). Once they found out that they had Syne as a slave oracle, they offered her freedom in exchange for victory. She accepted, and the empire fell. There were many years of negotiations, which Syne had an active part in, and eventually, the peace found in andras and aimi's time began. The group of deities that led the Empire were banished to an inhospitable realm that resembles hell. In the elders time, like elmira, only earth and the main biome were inhabited. Most elders formed from a combined mix of light and dark magic, which makes most of them a bit morally grey. The elders are the only deities who were never human once. When a human is turned into a deity, the same grey magic mutates them into what they are now, only less pure than the elders. And going as far back as possible: the light and dark magic. Before there was life in the universe, there was magic (or energy, whatever you wanna call it). It wasn't alive, simply positive and negative intent and consciousness at its earliest stages. There was a massive clash by the light and dark energies, and a diluted grey mixture was formed. To put it to an image, think of grey smoke, a grey magic--but barely seen. Like smoke from a candle.
