The triandrus cultivar Narcissus 'Thalia' (daffodil) is now flowering with narrow, slightly twisted outer petals. These lovely flowers look great growing in grass beneath white cherry blossom, but here they are accompany some emerging herbaceous perennials in beds surrounding a fountain at Cambridge Botanic Garden, UK.

a painting was prised from one of the corridors of the old house to be given to you- and you recognise it immediately . it’s a portrait- a really unsettling rendering of the goblin dowager’s favourite sister. like any good and spooky painting, the sister’s eyes seem to follow you no matter which way you duck your head- but the really unsettling feature happens to be that small changes seem to take place in the sister’s appearance over time.. so minute, if you didn’t know the image well enough, you might never notice . however, after years of exploration of the dowager’s house, you do know it well- and you can’t get over how, even as you sit with the piece over your lap, the corner of the gaunt woman’s mouth twitches .
