Simon Says: Working at Riot Games is a dream that will come true.
Today I had the pleasure to attend “The Craft and Creative of League of Legends, presented by Tribeca Games.” All I can say is, I couldn’t have felt more passionate into something I really love to watch and participate in. League of Legends, for those who don’t know is a 5 v 5 game where the whole goal is to destroy the enemies base, as they do the same to you. You have to work together as a team and create strategies to achieve your goal of victory.
They had a list of panels, all of which were amazing, but I was more interested in the film aspect of the company. They had a panel about sharing personal stories through film, basically a documentary. I was engaged in the conversations they were having on stage, and hope one day I will have the opportunity to work with such talented individuals. I had to speak to them personally, so after the panel I went to the floor below and have a little chat with them. Most of them were swamped with people all around them but I got my chance. Let’s just say I was really nervous, I haven’t really networked in a very long time, which made me very cautious with my words. I tried to be as professional as possible, but they were really relaxed and chill.
One of the best moments was when I spoke with Riot Dash, he was basically the go-to guy about esports and working with esports. I told him that I really wanted to work in the broadcasting aspect of esports, writing scripts for the analyst desk, and possible work with the documentary crews. Everything he said I took to heart. I even mentioned that my resume isn’t even that impressive since I had to focus more on school work. He said that they love looking at talent that don’t have that much work experience in the past to help them. That really boosted my confidence in applying for their internship. He gave me tips and advice that I would have never thought of in the application process, it was really lucky to run into someone like him.
I can talk about league of legends and esports all day, but I feel like this is enough for now. I would just like to thank Tribeca Games and Riot Games for presented such an amazing presentation for all of us to participate in.
