Merry X-Mas
Hey! I’m still alive :) but I’m not so active here on Tumblr, I’m posting a lot on my Twitter and Instagram. Don’t worry: I’m still working on Vrains manga and I still love Vrains so much (and missed it too </3), but I also do various art about my OC, commissions and drawing about other anime actually. Hope you’ll like it as well ^^ Take these sketches as a little gift for my absence here <3 I’ve done them when I was little sad, my OTPs warmth my heart <3

Ryoken wanted children, at least one, ideally a boy but he wasn’t picky, but Aoi wasn’t interested, she had a lot of doubts towards her own maternal nature and wondered if this wasn’t some weird psychological catharsis thing for Ryoken, with a lot of risk of going wrong, which added to her doubts

For the past month and the past thirteen lives, the Knights of Hanoi had been stupidly breaking the Link Vrains server. Aoi had no doubt that there was zero ulterior motive behind their actions; they were no longer cyberterrorists putting innocent duelists in comas while searching for the elusive ignis. They weren't even doing whatever vigilante crime they once espoused. No, nowadays they were just dicking around on the regular, old server doing nothing but making SOL Technologies' employees work overtime to handle all the server glitches and glitches. Their crimes came with no purpose.
But it was still crime. Her idol career was in jeopardy with all these crashes. She wasn't about to become an idol in Den City—that career came with far to many IRL implications—and she'd only just found her raison d'être. Hell would freeze over before she gave up what she'd worked so hard to achieve.
In which Aoi is an idol, becomes a hacker, and puts Ryouken in his place.
for the YGO Shipfest Easter Secret Santa! one of my giftee’s options was Aoi/Ryouken, and thus here is the fic! i had such fun both researching the pairing and plotting the story, and to my giftee - happy spring and i hope you enjoy! <3

12. things you said when you thought i was asleep
Aoi was not a violent person. She hadn’t been raised that way, she hadn’t been given the circumstances to be a violent person. She was just a gentle, and perhaps depressed girl, however, with the thunder and rain of biblical proporitions clashing outside, she just couldn’t sleep. It was too violent; the white flash streaks and the loud rumbling noises. It kept echoing and echoing in her head, Over and over.
From what she had been told, it had been a night similar to this that Spectre and Ryoken had met. They were good friends, important friends, even if Spectre did, after all this time, still unsettle her. But he had changed. They had changed. Ryoken had changed. After all, Aoi wouldn’t be trying to sleep in his bed, in his linen which was weighed down with his head and heavied with his scents - like bergamot cologne and some sort of acai shampoo - if they hadn’t had changed someway or another and found love and meaning in them.
And yet. Here Aoi was. Abruptly sitting up and staring a hole in the wall in front of her, beneath a painting that she and Ryoken had bought together as a lovey-dovey redecoration thing. The calm scene of the beach looked starkly different by night and by storm, she realised.
Somewhere beneath all the ordinance of the weather, Aoi could hear Ryoken breathe. She could hear herself breathe. And she could hear her thoughts too. It was a night like this when Ryoken had rescued Spectre, a second time, from that place where the Hanoi Project occurred.
The Hanoi Project harrowed her. She would never understand it like Yusaku or Takeru or Jin understood it. She would definitely never understand it like Spectre understood it. And she wouldn’t understand it like Ryoken understood it. And, finally, she wouldn’t understand it like Miyu understood it even though Aqua had shown her those moments, those horrendous moments of Miyu losing and being punished for it.
Aoi turned her head. Her thoughts were cloudy, soaked with emotions she was too tired to understand or process. They were dark thoughts, dark emotions. She licked her lips and moved beneath the sheets. She mounted Ryoken. He groaned beneath her.
She drew in closer to him. Her hands ghosted along his throat, his larynx bobbed up and down as he breathed. He didn’t seem to mind that she was on him, legs either side of his thighs and her hands still clinging, but not quite, to his lovely and porcelain neck.
“If I was an avenging angel,” she mumbled to herself, in a lucid and perhaps nightmarish haze, “and not a blue angel, I would get revenge for my friends on you.”
“I know...” Ryoken mumbled beneath her. “I know, Aoi.”
Aoi froze. Her mind sharpened and there was a great crash of lightning outside. Rain countinued to poind the roof and glass panes of the window hard. With streaks upon streaks of black-blue water turned inky in the darkness, despite the burnt orange of the street lights keep standing vigil on such flooded streets.
“Y-You’re awake?” Aoi mumbled.
Ryoken erred. He twisted beneaht her. Her hands remained steady on his neck.
“I love you.” he mumbled.
Aoi could no longer tell if this was her dream or his. So, she collapsed atop of him. Her hands coiling down and finding a home on the boughs of his body. She listened to his heart pound beneath his silken pyjama shirt and tight skin.
“I love you, too.” Aoi murmured. “I’m sorry.”
“I’m sorry, too.” Ryoken’s voice was gentle and his breath warmed Aoi as she laid atop of him, pressing down like guilt but like love, too.

Trickmirror - Promise
there is beautiful, symbolic element in this ship in that Ryoken and Aoi were both sort of on the other side of the looking glass. They’re not a Victim of the Lost Incident like the others but they were still drawn into the trauma and misery of it, in their own ways due to their unique connections to it and I find that marvellously poetic
And when Ryoken breaks that ice and talks to Aoi about how they are connected to the six, he starts breaking down crying because even then, she doesn’t know his particular strain of trauma associated with it but she promises that she’ll listen, that’ll she relieve him of some of his burden in whatever way he can
In turn, Ryoken promises to protect her, to love her, to honour her, and to do the same unto her
This is unflinching, even when he reveals more and more of what he saw and what he did during those six months as a child to her but some of her stories, stories of homelessness and of what her brother had to do for her and him to survive, haunts him when Aoi tells him of those days as well
