((OMG, now I have all these headcanons about Dream Pirates crashing royal/high-society weddings in the pre-Golden Age. I imagine that the promise of shiny treasure (all that nobility in one place? riches galore!) and the sweet dreams of newlyweds would be far too tempting to pass up. So the bridesmaids are basically decoys in case a band of Dream Pirates try to kidnap the bride, and the best-man is in charge of security and patrols to keep the Fearling vessels at bay. XD))

I can totally see it. And the bridesmaids are trained swordsmen as well, so when the DPs go to grab them, there’s suddenly these rather deadly-looking swords in their faces.

Does human!Mani still maintain and childlike belief in magic? That is, would he even be able to see non-human versions of his loved ones, or would he pass right through them as most adults simply pass through the Guardians and other such magical creatures?

He's a man of science. Mani realizes that what he sees can't honestly be all there is to the universe. So in his own roundabout way he does believe in other types of being. So seeing those who are alien life forms would be easy enough for him [Aster, Sandy, and to a degree, Pitch]

For others, it would be very difficult for him to see. He'd probably see them well enough with his eyes, but his brain would ignore them in the same way one ignores passing scenery while driving. Sure you see it, but it's not important that you notice it.

"Nightlight, can I ask you something?" Trick asked, his little brow furrowed beneath the hood of his cloak. "What will happen when Cupcake grows up? Most grown-humans don't have time to play, and I'm worried that she'll forget me... You've watched lots of humans grow up, like Katherine. Did she always want to play with you, even when she got big?"

Nightlight froze, caught on the spot and remembering a very hard truth.

Every small one grew tall. Every one of them said goodbye to forever small ones and Nightlights like him.

Even Katherine.

An ancient sadness settled his his eyes as he scooped Trick up into his arms. Making sure to dim his light enough that he wouldn't harm him.

~Never forget. But one day will have to say goodbye. All we can do is arm them against the woes of being a tall one. Give them good memories to remember when the days grow long, and the hours hard. Give them hope that their is still time for fun and a place where dreams come true. Remind them that wonder can be found in the smallest of things and that light can always protect you when the darkness grows too dark.~
