7 years, nearly 125,000 words, 2 stories in mind + 3 more that ran away like the gingerbread man and demanded to be told, and my Sexy Brutale magnum opus is finito at last. A quaint contemporary feel-good found family adaptation featuring -
Trinity/Clay Greyson/Redd Tequila/Willow Lucas being Lucas
I hope you all enjoy reading this as much as I enjoyed writing it! Fans of a certain good boy pianist and ex-con expert locksmith should also have a look over here at what @scribblemakes made for me 💚💜
Trinity Carrington and Clay Rockridge from the game "The Sexy Brutale"
Some twitter sketches featuring: 1: Aurum sketch 2-4: Beach sketches 5: AU Survived the Fire but dealing with repercussions 6: AU Died in the fire but now ghost watching over Lucas
They were all posted way earlier on twitter so if you want to see them sooner you can follow me at Scribblemakes.
I watched katforthewynns play-through of The Sexy Brutale since its not Mac accessible. TT_TT
But it’s a must watch/play for me, and I love so much about the worldbuilding, the location and the characters. And the concept art is really interesting, especially when you contrast how close to character most of them are...except for Willow, who had these crazy but awesome corset dresses and plunging necklines.
The idea of her reaction to wearing my favorite of her old concept dresses is what kickstarted this idea. Needless to say, she’s not a fan, but hey! Tequila has her (semi) covered).

by moonlight
I've been thinking about The Sexy Brutale a lot lately and so I've been doing what I always do when I think about something and wrote about fifty essays on it in my head. This time I have actually bothered to write one out. It's about the four different types of romantic relationships in the game.
Clay and Trinity
The most fulfilled couple in the game Clay and Trinity's deaths are probably the least tragic on this list largely because there were no regrets or unsaid words on either side. They had been together for a long time and were still just as happy with each other as they had been at the start. They should have had the chance to grow old together, instead they suffered a slow and painful death. If the time of death in Lucas mental prison matches up with their death in reality they were most likely together at least.
Lucas and Eleanor
Newly married and with a baby on the way at the time of the fire it seemed that Lucas and Eleanor's lives were just beginning. Although there relationship hadn't reached the same level of openness as Clay and Trinity the love was still very much real. It was strong enough to not only keep the Eleanor in Lucas mind prison safe, but to also cause her to take the form of the part of his subconscious that wanted him to move on. On the day of Eleanor's death both were looking to the future, which sadly was what caused Lucas to do what he did, and inadvertently stop that future from happening.
Redd and Greyson
Redd and Greyson were just at the beginning of their relationship with Redd being head over heals for Greyson but yet to make a confession. This relationship was full of things that were never said, perhaps on both sides given the fact that, with Redds crush being so obvious Greyson must have noticed it and would probably have said something if he didn't feel the same. At least the game suggests that they died together so hopefully at least some things weren't left unsaid.
Willow and Tequila
For me Willow and Tequila seemed to have feelings for each other which, while I wouldn't call them love, or even a crush, felt something that could have bloomed into something more with time. Both were hurt and healing, with Tequila getting over unrequited feelings for Lucas and, although being supportive of him and Eleanor, feeling a lot of things she hated herself for; and, although Lucas stated that she would never have killed herself, Willow was clearly not in a very happy place mentally. Yet despite this they are both concerned enough about each other for it to become a part of Lucas mind prison. For me this is so interesting and tragic because of the almost unlimited possibilities that never got to happen.
I like the fact that both the Rockridge brothers are susceptible to the bad boy/girl type. Clay's like: this is my wife and I fell in love with her when I caught her cheating against me at cards. And Redd's: I am completely besotted with this man, he can pick any lock and's probably not above theft. I would literally give my life for him.
