Tripodfish in the Shallows - Veiled Sea
Endless Ocean Luminous, Nintendo Switch
WHY put a tripodfish in the game if it's not gonna use its long fins as a tripod on the seafloor!!!!
more fish drawings as warmups✨🐟
bullet tuna and some sort of nondescript tripodfish
have you seen this pretty girl? :o
comment on the post says she’s a “3 color tabby torti white ticking piebald harlequin”

Oh wow what a pretty tabico!!
the abyssal spiderfish
right. This is gonna be about the abyssal spiderfish, or the tripod fish. This guy literally looks like a tripod. It’s only like a foot and a half long, but it’s got fin-stilts that can go up to THREE WHOLE FEET. and it uses these to walk.
and also it refuses to swim. You have to spook it enough that it accidentally starts swimming.
The way it walks on its stick feet is partially that they’re basically all bone, and also it pumps excess fluid into them to make them rigid, and then it swims by removing that fluid so the fins can bend.
It eats by just walking along the bottom of the ocean, and its mouth is at the perfect height for shrimp and fish ‘n’ stuff, which it can gobble up. Alternatively, it just hits the fish swimming along the floor, and knocks them towards its mouth. It legit just punches fish.
And then it can either reproduce by happening upon another of its kind (it’s hermaphroditic, so any other tripodfish will do) and mating. Or, if that doesn’t happen, it just MATES WITH ITSELF and releases both eggs and sperm to fertilize them, and clones itself, kind of. It’s not a perfect clone.
so, in conclusion: fish with the creepiest name ever walks on stilts like a friggin’ circus clown, punches unsuspecting fish, and can mate with itself.
Thanks so much nature.
I’ve seen an image of Captain as a shark merman in the sea. It was all yellow like the sand, which was cool. But! But I drew the snipers as deep sea mermen, two Tripodfish. So water is dark blue, even if I kinda miss that bright yellow-- but the abyss is dark.
Tripodfish eyes do not actually have anything to help them see in the dark, but they prefer to stand still above the sand and ambush their preys feeling the movements. But could I pass the opportunity to make Ted and the Scared sniper look llike fish that look like rifle tripods? And could I avoid to give Ted a speargun? No. Plus, whatever if the fish can’t see in the dark! That’s what those googgles are for.
...
Did I just ramble about fish without noticing-? Oh well uh.
Whatever. Fishmen I guess.
