I hope you don't mind me adding to your Orpheus/ Eurydice post but a few years (I was 18 maybe 19) ago I participated in a project for my greek classes, and I had to illustrate a myth from Ovid's metamorphosis to elementary school children. I was assigned Orpheus and Eurydice, which put me in the place of having to explain grief and death to children. It was a very nice experience, I had fun trying to come up with a way of telling them a story they probably never heard and games to make them understand it better and at the end of everything we asked them the unfathomable question: why did Orpheus turn back? What does it mean? and one child looked at me, and I'm not quoting this verbatim only because I'm Italian and the art of translation is not one I'm well versed in, but they told me: I think he turned back because he knew she couldn't come with him. Because you have to learn to let go, even if it hurts a lot and you don't want to. I think about that child very often

Heroes’ Triptych, mixed media collage, three compositions of 35 x 28 x 0.5 cm.
We had in Moinesti (and will continue to have) an International Festival dedicated to Tristan Tzara and to the Dadaist Culture, each year in April; one year ago, a very good friend from Switzerland named Paul Dorn (as a dadaist artist he is known as St. Pauli) made a show playing with the Romanian word EROILOR (in English, to the Heroes): he wrote that word on cardboard with stamps and blue ink, in a column, and each time when he wrote a row he changed one letter of the word - EROILOR (on the first row), AROILOR (on the second), IROILOR (on the third) and so on; after that, he read this picto-poem (a dadaist therm who means a painted poem) and the effect was great. Now, I've stolen that cardboard, and I've used it as a background for three collages about that event and about St. Pauli, a triptych, the Heroes' Triptych! What do you think?
