Tri-Training Update # 11 (15 days until race day)
Swimming: 750m/40 min
I swam laps and worked on kicking/form drills for 40 minutes this morning. I got in 30 laps. I decided to stay for more swimming after. Now I feel like Dobby the kitty here.
He is sleepy this late morning, and is trying to clean himself, but only wants to clean just under his chest, and the paws he can reach because he's very sleepy. It's very cute, and very much how I feel.
Tri training update # 10 (16 days til race) Today was a really monumental day as it marks my first time riding a bike in a long time. I have a great fear of bike riding from a few incidents as a kid. I only learned to ride at 14, and soon stopped. I pedaled around my moms neighborhood. It was nice to get out, and next time I'll just work on riding harder! I know you're thinking "but race day is so soon!!" I knoww, but for me, it's not about running a race that's perfect. I won't probably run the whole 2.5km, and I'll probably take a few breaks on the bike during 10km. It's the power in doing it that is the most valuable for me. Bike ride 20 minutes, easy ride.
Tri-training Update # 9 (17 Days til race day)
Swam 50 minutes. 400m/15min. Not my best time. I didn't really track the rest of the swim because I did kicking exercises. Felt pretty tired in the pool, and for most of the day.
Likely due to getting my period and the RAIN we've had. I swear, where I live is about a month behind in the weather. We're getting as much rain as we usually do in April.
Snapped a picture outside the gym. I like the way my waterbottle matches my style which tends to be neutral, neutral, POP OF COLOUR, POP OF COLOUR, neutral, neutral. Or something like that.
Tri Training Update # 8 (18 days til race day)
So, I've decided to separate my triathlon posts from my non-triathlon training posts after this post n_n;; I'd like to use this blog as a log of my workouts, so I can see what I'm up to when I look back!
Race day is getting eerily close, and I'm of course not prepared as well as I'd like to be. But life is life, and we have bad days, bad weeks, bad etc, so it'll all work out. I've still been doing everything once a week or more, but not as rigorous as my training program suggests.
Today's workout: 30 minute walk around the neighbourhood in-between bursts of rain.
Other news:
I've suspended weight training until triathlon-ing is done. It's too much to do both in a week I've realized, and it'll be best done with a regular routine that includes lots of other activities. I'm also not doing intermittent fasting until after triathlon is over. Better to stay singularly focussed!
I'm thinking of what my exercise routine would need as a shake up for after triathlon training is done. It's exciting, and interesting to think about! Maybe a couch to 5k? Maybe focus on my weight training? Or maybe my swimming? Who knows!
Tri Training Update # 7 (Wednesday May 7, 2014)
Today's training was pretty good. I wasn't sore after working out yesterday. I did lengths, and managed to do 16 lengths (400 m) in 15:50 minutes! This isn't very fast, but a big deal for me because I want to be able to swim 14 lengths (600 m) in 18 minutes. I decided to do some drills for the rest of the hour including kicking only drills which are pretty hard!
Overall I feel stronger and better than ever!
Tri Training Update # 5:
So due to an executive decision, I have decided to suspend all of my triathlon workouts until the end of April. Why? I have school work due at the end of April that will determine if I graduate. Graduation > Triathlon Training right now. I can get a little distracted with training, and neglect other responsibilities.
I'm not going to give up activity entirely! My goal is to walk every evening for at least 30 minutes.
Tri Workouts Suspended Until Thursday :(
I have had a combination of allergies and sickness for the past two days. I wanted to swim today, but I am taking it bit by bit and giving myself some time to re-coop.
I am still going to try to go on little walks to avoid going stir-crazy, but not much else.
Blahh. Do you workout when you're sick?
