lighthouse: how much makeup do you wear?

none really. the most i wear is lip gloss (mostly because my lips tend to get really dry).

rain: if it were possible, what exotic animal would you keep as a pet?

a dolphin?? a really cool owl??? a tiger???? so many choices!!

storm: do you like piercings and tattoos? Why or why not?

i have nothing against them, and some piercings and tattoos are really artistic and pretty, but personally i don’t think i’ll ever get any because of the pain. :P

So i was scrolling through the spinal fusion tag (lol) and I found you. Do you always have back pain? Is it lower back or all over? Does it get worse the longer you are on your feet? How do you manage it? How are you doing in general post op? Also props to you for being a nurse :)

Aww I am glad you found me! I have chronic back pain and I have so for over 6 years, and it is constant! I wouldn’t remember a day without pain, but maintaining a positive mindset and having support is what has helped me to push through. And for me I have very constant lower back pain, the screws in my upper back irritate my muscles because I am thin, and I also developed sciatica 3 and a half years ago below my fusion starting from my right lower back, through my hip and down my right leg.

And at the moment most of my management is emotional, though I just had a pain interventionalist involved a few months back. I need to get back into exercising more, but I used to be incredibly flexible and a dancer, so not being able to have that same range of motion can be hard. I would recommend pilates, yoga or swimming, all under guidance though. And thank you! Nursing is very challenging with the pain being unrelenting, but it’s what I love so I am just taking it all day by day xx
