Thank you very much! But I don’t think I can win on my own. It’s because I have my friends, classmates who keep cheering on for me, a lot of people rooting on me, and the pokemon that fought with all of their power for me that I can win. Everyone really went all out during the recording for the battle scene you see. It’s so passionate like “Whuoooo!!!” In the end I think I got the energy from everyone too.

Yep, everyone was there. Everyone was screaming when we went for extra desperate for our acting so I think it should be able to be felt even from the other side of the screen. Like, seriously. I was even told “stay back from the mic” numerous time due to how loud I was lol. Thanks to that my voice didn’t even came out the day after recording.

So, when did you actually knew that Ash was going to win?
Around the start of Alola League. The director said “This time, I want Ash to win no matter what!” and I was like “What? He’ll win!?”, that was when I knew it. Though I was like “Was that a joke?” “Really? He’ll let Ash win!?”, I didn’t really believe him that time lol.
Which match among the Pokemon League is your favorite? Even the past leagues would be fine!
What? There’s so much that’s going to be hard to choose, but from the current league, maybe VS Gladion? Ah, but Rowlet really did his best so there’s VS Hau too... it’s hard to choose only one. If I count the past league in, then VS Paul! Infernape VS Electivire!

Continuing, please tell us the best memories you made while acting for Ash for the past 22 years! I doesn’t have to be related to recording.
In the past, there were a project with the theme “Let’s fulfill everyone’s dream” at a pediatric ward. I was there to meet a boy who loves pokemon. But his condition worsened just before the appointed date. I was told I can’t meet him because he will be put on the intensive care unit. But even so I want to do something for him, so I recorded my voice.
I recorded about 1 minute of commentary, I even got Pikachu involved in this too, and sent it to him. By that time, the boy was already unable to wake up, but his mother let him keep hearing the recording, and then the boy finally woke up.
That time I thought, it was because I was able to work at this field that such thing was able to happen to me, and that I was really thankful of it. At the same time I realized that I have such amazing mission. You could say that my impression towards Ash has changed, or perhaps my respect for the franchise in general has raised.
That was such amazing story! When did that happened?
I think about 10 years milestone? I really think that I have such a splendid job. This voice acting job and anime in general have a direct impact towards children. And so I think since I got the chance to do this, I need to do it with this kind of mindset.
In the end the one who gave me the chance for me to stand at this place right now is the fans that was children. That’s why it was not simply as a thanks, but most parts of me wish to do something for those children.
That is such an important thing. If there’s a person that could do something, then I want to say just do it! Because if they was told “You can’t do it” that they won’t be able to do it. It was something like, if someone told you to “Come!” then you should be able to say “Okay, let’s go!”
