Temptation and Treason (RP for YourFinalFantasy)
On a lone crimson cliff of Cosmo Canyon, a small form of a young woman set at the edge, her legs dangling idly in the open world. Her pale colored eyes flickered towards the heavens above, the light gray clouds mingled with the icy blue and blaze of sunset. Her eyes wandered over the painted sky, searching for something, anything…a sort of a sign from God, the One she struggled to run after in all these years. Eden had been running with the pack of freedom fighters, those who called themselves AVALANCHE. She watched how they teased, fought and rested together; they seemed like they really belonged with each other, almost like a family…a family that Eden almost felt she didn’t have a place in. She had tried to remind herself, that it was simply because she did not know them all, like how they all knew and bonded to each other. She was still a new comrade.
Even so, Eden was not completely forgiving. She could see how the other girl, Aerith, interacted with them all. She smiled, laughed, and talked with them, almost as though she was no outsider. Both she and Aerith came into the group about the same time, and yet there she was, like she was one of them. The Ancient had long fought against these deep resonances that enveloped her being, but she was not completely immune to their influences. Eden felt a sort of a silent code of sisterhood, both were of Ancient blood, both could hear these faceless ghosts. Even though there was a sense of that symbolic sisterhood, the seeds of envy planted themselves into her spirit. She has seen the power Aerith wielded, this almost holy light, a light that she did not deserve! Eden remembered vividly of the many nights, where she laid alone in tears, crying for God to save her soul from these heart-splitting cries. She would loom over the Sacred tome she carried close to her, frantically searching passage after passage for answers, for comfort. Eden had long decided these voices of the Planet were of devils, not of passed mortals. Her Ancient blood was a curse, damnation to the mental torture and eventual possession. Eden pursued salvation, screamed to the very Heavens for God’s love, for His healing.
She suffered and struggled in her faith, but then Aerith…She only spoke of hearing comforting voices, and having such power. How could that girl be gifted? What has she done that Eden has not, to be blessed?! That girl was given so many gifts, and yet she did not acknowledge the Hand that gave such things! It sickened Eden, to continue watching, allowing the venom of jealousy to creep deeper into her soul; thus why she secluded herself to the reaches of the rock, to have privacy to think. The more Eden reflected on it, her cheeks burned and the hot welling of tears stung the back of her eyes. She pulled her legs up, pressing her knees to her chest. “This isn’t fair…” she growled to herself; her heart pounded against her ears, conflicting with the ghosts’ dissonance. She clenched her teeth, glaring towards the sky as tears trickled down her cheeks. “This isn’t fair,” Eden cried out, her quaking voice echoed though the empty land.
“I took my cross; I cried and prayed for answers, to be saved! She didn’t do anything, how could you pick her over me?” The anger in her heart flared towards the Lord she had loved so dearly. Eden could only see that she was cast out, from even her Lord. The young Ancient was sure He would not answer her doubts about her ancestors, nor comfort her. To think even her Lord would reject her...It was a nightmare she continued to violently wrestle with. She expected answers, miracles; why didn't any of it happen?! She curled up even tighter, burying her face into her knees. The warm tears soaked the dirty jeans, yet she did not pull away. “How could you?”
