So I just read @keithexefile 's trucker!keith au and thought of an alternative more fluffy (kinda maybe just PG) and Christmas inspired trucker!Keith AU.
---------
So Keith is working an extra shift on Christmas morning because Shiro is at Allura's house for Christmas and although they offered to have him there as well he declined, wanting them to be able to spend Christmas together as a couple without him hanging about like a wet rag in the background.
And so it's like four in the morning and he's still got at least another three hours of driving left before he makes it back to the truck yard after which he plans to just go home and sleep the rest of the day because with Shiro away he really isn't going to be having a "christmas". Then there's a crackle on his CB radio and some strangers voice comes through. "Hey can you hear me?"
Puzzled for a moment Keith doesn't respond but then the voice comes again and desperate for anything to distract him from the never ending twists and turns off the dark road keith responds.
The voice on the other end introduces himself as Lance and begins to try and start up a conversation with Keith. With nothing better to do Keith goes with it and for the next three hours they talk about anything and everything. Lance is apparently one for cheesy jokes but finds Keith's more blunt sarcasm all to amassing. Keith also learns that Lance is pulling an early shift as he's just started a new job and was hoping to log some extra hours on the holiday wage.
The conversation srems to flow seemlessly, atleast until Lance asks Keith what he's doing for Christmas. At first Keith is apprehensive to tell him, especially considering Lance has just told him in great detail all the festive plans he and his ever expanding list of family members are having but eventually decides that he's probably never going to talk to Lance again so what does it matter and so explains to him how he's not really having a Christmas because his brother is away and he doesn't have any other family to spend the holidays with. Lance announces that this is a crying shame and offers for Keith to come to his place and join his family for Christmas day. Keith obviously takes this as a joke as he's never meet Lance in his life and there's every chance he lives on the other side of the country and therefore never will. Keith jokingly agrees and thanks Lance for his kind hospitality before the conversation turns elsewhere.
By the time Keith pulls into the truck yard it's just after seven and he's more than ready to reintroduce his head to his pillow. After going his list of last minute checks on his truck he heads to the main office to sign off and head home.
His mind filled with thoughts of sleep he barely takes notice of the other person behind the desk as they hand him the clipboard. He rushes through the set of questions he has to fill out about his run and then signs his name with a messing and half-hearted flourish before passing the papers back and waiting not so patiently for the attendant to give him the all clear.
He can absent-mindedly hear them flicking through the pages to make sure everything is up to scratch but is preoccupied fiddling with the mini torch attached to his key ring. Shiro had given it to him as a joke but it had come in handy more often than Keith liked to admit.
Finally the attendant seem satisfied that all is well and mutters a tired "you're good" and Keith heads towards the exit. Just as he's pushing the door open though he hears a startled "wait!" from the attendant.
Confused he turns back around to stare at the other person in the room, a man about his own age with caramel skin and wide blue eyes which are flicking back and forth between Keith's signature and the trucker himself. "You're Keith?!" The other man questions in a voice that's suddenly all too familiar.
"Ahh yeah?" The Keith replies with intrigue. "Do I know you?" He doesn't mean to sound so blunt but he is tired and confused. The other man doesn't seem bothered though and instead gives him the widest smile Keith has ever witnessed.
"Yes you do." The other man chuckles to himself as he glances down at Keith's signature at the bottom of the page once again, "I believe you're coming to my place for Christmas dinner."

And so that's my contribution to the klance Fandom for Christmas hope it was worth the read
