Lia flew quickly through the heavy forest, the knowledge that she didn’t have much time to save Celia eating at her bones. Her wings flared backward, then forwards-stopping her just in front of the group of vks and Rose, who stared as Lia landed with a wave of leaves and dirt. “Audrey took Celia!” Lia gasped out, Rose stepping forward, resting a hand on Lia’s shoulder.
“Where?” Rose asked right away, Lia shook her head. “No clue-Ben and I had gotten her to calm down-then Audrey just, appeared and took her.” Lia explained and Uma let out a hiss through her teeth, glaring at the sky.
“We have to find her, save her.” She said, almost everyone nodded in agreement, except Mal, who stared down at the extinguished ember in her hand.
“How? The little brat ruined every-“ Mal yelped as alt Mal smacked her over the head-hard. “Shut up.” Alt Mal hissed, her eyes glowing angry yellow. “And your ember ain't the only one we got,”
At that moment, alt Mal held up the still glowing ember from her world. “We can still win this, for now-we must stop fighting, work together to beat Audrey, and mom.” Alt mal said, looking at her friends, and this world's version of them.
She looked at Lia. “Can you fly ahead? Find her and get Celia away from her,” alt Mal asked and Lia nodded, glancing towards Ben who nodded rapidly-urging her to go. Lia spread her wings again and with a single flap was in the skies, flying towards where the darkness was spiraling in the sky.
Mal stared after her, blinking harshly. Whatever. Let her save Celia, she’d save Auradon. She turned to Uma, holding the extinguished ember. “We have a better chance if both embers are ignited.” Mal said, voice strained. “Audrey forced our hand. And we’re out of time.” Mal forced out, and Uma glared, her necklace glowing, pulsing as she walked up to Mal.
“This isn’t for you. It's for Celia and Auradon.” Uma muttered, placing her hand over the ember, both Mal and Uma began to chant, the ember pulsing with each repeat. “Regain your might and ignite, Regain your might and ignite, Regain your might and ignite!”
The ember ignited, heating up in Mal’s palm, Uma stepped back as smoke swirled up around Mal, crawling up to the treetops before Mal’s dragon form emerged-flying towards where pink lightning erupted in the sky.
“Let's go!” Alt Mal said, everyone raced towards the bikes-sitting double if they had to. Engines revved, and they sped off back through the enchanted forest, following the sound of thunder and the sight of darkness swirling above in the sky.
Lia soared through the sky, heading directly for where all the dark magic was emanating from-Auradon Preps' dorm castle. There were two distinct green glows atop the highest tower of the castle, one-Lia recognized, Audrey in her queen of mean getup-holding the dragon's eye scepter; the other, made her heart stop.
It was Audrey but…not anymore. Bathed in dark black/purple leathers and horns coming out of her head, it was clear that the figure wasn’t Audrey anymore, but Maleficent, the mistress of all evil. Both held both versions of Celia, Audrey had almost casual yet tight grip on her, while Maleficent held the other Celia by her throat, pinning the young vk against her-all while staring Lia in the eyes, a sharp danger to her.
Lia was extremely wary as she landed atop the stone railing of the tower-her wings keeping her balance as Audrey stepped back calmly, expecting her, as Maleficent stared at her like a wild animal about to bite. “Lia, what a nice surprise, is Mal joining us as well?” Audrey said with a false sweetness, while both Celia squirmed in their captors’ arms.
In the distance, Mal roared in her dragon form, Lia did not look away from Audrey or Maleficent. “I imagine so, but she’s not my business.” Lia said, stepping down from the stone railing onto the flat floor of the tower, still staring down Audrey and Maleficent. “You can deal with her however you want, I'm here for Celia.”
Audrey smirked, shifting the scepter she held into Celia’s face threateningly. Celia’s eyes widened, looking at Lia pleadingly. Lia flared her wings-sharp and ready. “This doesn’t have to be a fight,” Lia warned, ready to fight if need be.
“What's the fun in that?” Audrey cooed-swerving the scepter around-blasting a bolt of pink lighting at Lia-who flew into the air, dodging it. She turned as she flew-her sharpened wings sliced into Audrey’s outstretched arm, getting her sleeve. Audrey yelped as if she got cut, her grip on Celia loosening and the girl tried to escape.
Maleficent curled her lip in disgust, slamming the end of her scepter to the ground-sending a green burst wave of magic at Lia-who tucked her wings, blocking the spell. Maleficent's eyes narrowed. “Another immune to my magic, a nuisance.” She muttered, lifting her scepter-waving it to the side in a swift motion.
Several blocks from the tower slid out and launched at Lia-these being solid blocks of stone; Lia was forced to dodge-ducking and weaving-flying higher in the sky. Celia-in Audrey’s grip-bit down on Audrey’s arm that held her and Audrey let out a growling yelp-tossing Celia away from her and Celia hit the stone railing with a painful thud-sliding down to the floor.
“Little brat! Fine-I don’t need you anyway.” Audrey growled, blasting the flowing beneath Celia’s feet and her eyes widened-Alt Celia yelping as she watched herself tumble from the tower to the ground below.
Lia twisted and turned in the sky-cutting through the air towards Celia-catching her; however Celia’s momentum couldn’t be slowed in time and Lia wrapped herself around the young VK, closing her eyes as the lawn approached fast.
She hit the ground with a crack-her wings going limp and disappearing as Celia rolled out of her arms-gasping as she looked down at Lia-who was unconscious. “Lia!” Celia gasped, trying to shake her awake. “Lia, Lia! Wake up! Please!”
At the same moment, the rest of the vks, along with both Ben’s, ran up onto the scene-Ben rushing forward as he saw Lia and Celia on the grass, Lia unmoving. Celia looked up at him, pleadingly, and he took a closer look-taking a slow, deep breath as he saw her eyes flutter, her body glowing gold. “Healing,” Ben reassured in his gruff voice. “She’ll…be okay,” he muttered and Celia nodded, holding Lia’s arm-looking up as Mal arrived in her dragon form-battling against Audrey.
Maleficent still had alt Celia, her green eerie eyes flickering between Audrey and Mal-smirking ever so slightly.
Smoke climbed up beside her-and Maleficent turned-gasping as she was met with alt Mal swinging at her-her eyes glowing yellow. “Let her go!” alt Mal yelled, grabbing the scepter-trying to wrangle it from Maleficent's hands.
“Which one deary? You’ll have to be more specific.” Maleficent sneered, elbowing Mal in the stomach, and then blasting her with a spell-Mal stumbled back, and then over the broken edge of the tower-catching herself just in time.
Alt mal grunted, glaring up at her mother as she stepped forward to stare down at Mal, smirking. “Both of them! Let Audrey and Celia go!” Mal demanded-trying to lift herself back up.
“Well, I can't do a thing about Audrey-her body is mine now, but this little one? Here you go~” Maleficent cooed-throwing alt Celia over the towers edge. Mal’s eyes widened in horror as Celia screamed-the girl plummeting towards the ground-too far up to survive. “Celia!” Mal screamed-releasing the tower ledge to fall after Celia, Maleficent cackling as she watched her daughter and the twerp fall.
“Mal!” Celia cried out, reaching towards her-Mal reached for her-spotting the ground getting too close too quick and she focused-she turned to smoke, going faster-catching Celia and redirecting them into a roll onto the grass. Safe.
Mal sat up quickly, eyes widening as a bolt of green lightning rocketed towards them and Mal held up her hands-conjuring a shield just in time, Mal grunted from the force of it, looking at Celia. “Go! To Uma! She’ll protect you!” Mal ordered and Celia stumbled to her feet-running away from Mal and towards the rest of the vks, both Uma’s gathering her, pushing her behind them to protect her.
Uma looked up, seeing dragon Mal fighting against Audrey-using the ember against the princess-then at alt Mal against Maleficent-it was clear who needed, and wanted, help. Both Uma’s nodded at each other and launched into attack-both Harry’s, Rose, Hadie, and Gil’s following close behind.
Both Uma’s summoned water to whip at Maleficent-throwing her off balance-stopping her attack on alt Mal whose arms gave out at the same moment, she gave a grateful look to her friends, getting back on her feet-glaring as Maleficent teleported from the tower to the ground, glaring at her daughter and her feeble friends.
Maleficent stared at every one of them, her fingers twitching as she looked at those who stood against her, including Rose-the other magic immune nuisance that would surely be a thorn in her side during this final fight. “Come then, you insolent fools.” Maleficent sneered, slamming her scepter down-summoning thorns and waves of green magic.
Harry sliced through the thorns, Uma blocked the magic from reaching her friends, Mal and Hadie burned through the thorns, Rose pushed through the magic-running straight at Maleficent. “you, I’ll deal with you quickly,” Maleficent hissed-lifting her hand-green magic emanating from her palm-lifting the ground beneath Roses feet-throwing her off balance and tossing her away.
“Rose!” Alt Harry yelped, twisting around-rushing to where Rose had landed in a heap on the grass, groaning. Maleficent slammed the end of her staff onto the ground-sending a bolt of deadly magic at Harry and Rose-alt Uma quickly blocked it with a water shield-clenching her hand-sending sharp torrents of water at Maleficent-who twisted her staff to the side-shielding herself from the attack.
“You’ll have to try harder than that, children,” Maleficent sang, a evil smirk on her lips. From above, Mal defeated Audrey-the princess collapsing to the tower floor, crown and scepter clattering to the ground.
No one spared Mal’s win a glance-focused on defeating Maleficent.
Lia sat up around that same time, groaning lightly, smiling as Celia leaped to hug her in thanks. “You okay?” Lia asked and Celia nodded, watching as Lia stood-eyes widening as she took in the battle between the vks and Maleficent, Rose down for the count with her Harry by her side-both Uma’s unrelentless in their attacks, and the vks that were unarmed or didn’t have magic stayed back, protecting alt Celia.
Lia jumped into the fight-spreading her wings with a golden flash of light-temporarily blinding Maleficent. Maleficent growled, holding up her cloak to block the light-grunting as her sleeve was sliced by Lia’s wing as she flew up to her and twisted-kicking Maleficent in the stomach. “just in time!” alt Mal called out with a relieved smile-happy to see Lia up and fighting.
Lia smiled at her, landing beside alt Mal. “What’s the plan?” Lia asked, her and Mal staring Maleficent down as she stumbled to regain her balance-blocking attacks from Harry, Hadie, and both Uma’s.
“Take her down, free Audrey.” Mal said, not having a detailed plan, but a plan nonetheless. Lia nodded; she could work with that. Her wings flared and she took to the skies-bringing her hands together-a beam of golden light blasting directly at Maleficent-hitting her directly, even if she tried to block it.
Maleficent stumbled, glaring up at Lia-swinging her scepter to the side-sending a bolt of lighting. Lia dodged. Mal jumped forward-fists ignited in flames and her eyes glowing yellow. She swiped at Maleficent-burning her side. “Petulant child!” Maleficent snarled-slamming her scepter down on Mal’s head-Mal yelped; stumbling to the side, tears burning in her eyes.
Mal was thrown back with Maleficent’s magic-hitting the wall of the Auradon prep building with a crack, groaning as she fell to the ground. Hadie swiped at Maleficent with his fire-baring his teeth, dodging a swipe from her scepter. Harry got in close quarters-slashing at Maleficent with his hook and sword, both Uma’s tried to contain her with powerful water shields.
“Enough!” Maleficent screamed, waving her hands out-bursting magic forth and knocking everyone off their feet-even Lia-from the shockwave. “I will not be defeated by children!” Lia got to her feet-her eyes widening as Maleficent turned to a tower of fire and smoke-taller than she’d seen from Mal. From the fire, emerged Maleficent in her dragon form; snarling and gnashing her sharp teeth as she overlooked the foolish children that had tried to defeat her.
Lia held up her hands to summon a light shield the same moment Maleficent roared and fire descended upon the vks. Lia grunted-being pushed back-her boots digging into the grass as she held back the powerful flames of Maleficent.
Maleficent pulled back her attack, slamming her claws into the ground-sending a shockwave that destroyed much of the grounds of Auradon prep-throwing everyone off their feet-Lia spread her wings and took to the skies-flying around Maleficent, collecting light in her hands and blasting a beam of golden light at Maleficent, hurting her.
Maleficent snarled, swiping at the figure flying around her-but Lia was quick and small, Maleficent wasn’t fast enough to swipe her out of the air. “little pest!” Maleficent snarled, turning her gaze to the fallen vks who were struggling to find their footing-locking onto alt Uma, who was holding Celia from falling into a large crack.
Maleficent inhaled-Lia had no time to react-and unleashed a tunnel of fire right at Uma. “Uma!” alt Mal cried, scrambling up from where she’d fallen-disappearing into smoke and reappearing atop Uma-taking the brunt of the blast.
Everything exploded into flames of green, Lia gasped, cupping her hands to her mouth, Harry stared in horror as Uma was consumed into flames-Evie screamed.
Maleficent cackled, spreading her wings. Three birds with one stone. Now to deal with the rest. She turned her head-prepared to continue her attack-but with the fire, a magic grew. Powerful magic. The flames suddenly dispersed and large purple and green wings extended from within-putting out the flames.
Uma and Celia were unharmed-and above them, was Mal-reborn anew. Her hair was like flames, horns had sprouted from her head, dragon wings flared from her back, and a tail extended from her lower back.
Her eyes were bright glowing green, her sclera black-blue flames rising from her eyes, her whole body glowed blue and a deep rumble came from her-audible. “holy shit,” Uma mumbled from beneath Mal, her eyes wide. Mal had just saved her, and went demi-god mode.
“Now that’s some true hero shit,” Rose muttered from within alt Harry’s arms, his own eyes wide with shock.
Maleficent stared-now beginning to get…scared.
Mal made eye contact with Lia, and they shared a nod. Maleficent went to attack with more fire breath but her head cracked back as Mal disappeared with a flare of her wings-her fist colliding with Maleficent’s head-sending the dragon back. Her cry of pain echoed-dust flying everywhere as she collided on the ground.
“I won’t be defeated like this! Not by children!” Maleficent snarled, getting back up-spreading her wings-taking to the sky. Mal and Lia followed-dodging blasts of fire and lighting.
Mal, the one who still stood upon the Auradon prep tower, looking up at the mighty battle between her alt self, her alt mother, and Lia; one she was not apart of, one that overshadowed everything she’d done.
Her lip twitched downward, her eyes darkening with anger ever so slightly.
In the sky, alt Mal soared through the sky-a high pitched cutting sound accompanying her as she attacked Maleficent with a barraged of fire attacks. Lia flew up and above-circling her hands and connecting them together in front of her-blasting a strong beam of golden light at Maleficent's head; forcing her down.
Maleficent roared-twisting around, breathing fire at both girls. Mal redirected it, twisting around and sending the blast of fire right back at Maleficent-knocking her out of the sky slightly but the massive dragon regained flight quickly. Lia turned-dive bombing; searing the dragons scales with her light powers, Maleficent roaring in pain-her claw swiped at Lia but Lia gracefully dodged-arcing back up into the sky towards Mal.
They joined hands-their hands glowing with their individual magics. “It's over mother,” Mal said, her body glowing brightly alongside Lia’s, gold and blue blending beautifully in the sky.
Maleficent roared, her eyes glowing green-gas rose in her throat. A blue beam of light collided with her-magic draining. Maleficent roared in pain, looking down to see Hadie using the ember on her, draining her of her magic-Uma behind him, helping further power the ember. Maleficent roared, a beam of gold and blue magic hit her from the other side-Mal and Lia’s combined magic.
Maleficent roared again-unable to focus, her magic being drained. “the strength of evil, is good as none-“ Mal began, Lia joining her, along with the other vks; all of them. Evie, Harry, Gil, Carlos, Jay, Uma, Celia, and Ben, putting their hands on each others shoulders, Uma and Evie at the front-their hands on Hadie’s shoulders-the ember glowing brightly at the unified front. “when stands before all hearts as one!”
In a bright blast of blue and gold-Maleficent disappeared-Audrey released from the spell-falling to the ground. Mal and Lia gasped-quickly cutting through the sky-catching the unconscious princess before she gained too much momentum.
The girls landed, gently setting Audrey on the ground, Mal gently caressing the girls face. “Audrey?” She whispered, patting her cheeks-the princess remained asleep. “Audrey? C’mon, wake up-don’t do this to us,” The scepter-destroyed-and the queens crown clattered to the grass, but no one paid it any mind.
Lia looked up, seeing her worlds Mal looking back down at them, her eyes narrowed. Lia spread her wings-flying back up to the tower. Mal stepped back, averting her eyes to glare at a random corner. Lia knelt down to pick up the deactivated dragon's eye scepter and the queen's crown. “There, the crown and the scepter. Before sunrise.” Lia said, holding up both for Mal to see-who glared back halfheartedly. “The barrier stays open.”
Lia pulled in her wings, looking down at Audrey-who lay still, breathing shallowly. “what happened?” Lia asked, stern and near accusatory.
“I defeated her.” Mal said, almost too simply. “She wont wake up. Don’t ask me to, I already tried.” Lia’s wings flared and Mal took a step back, watching her warily. Lia looked around-into the dark forest that surrounded Auradon prep, at the school grounds, spotting those cursed still asleep, and her Ben still a beast-the other Ben normal again.
The curses by her worlds Audrey hadn’t been undone. “if you defeated her, why aren’t any of her spells broken?” Lia asked, looking back at Mal, who only shrugged.
“Maybe she shouldn’t have messed with magic she doesn’t understand,” she muttered, almost spat out. She didn’t care right now to seem sad, or confused, she was only angry-because things hadn’t gone to plan.

first meeting on the bridge; (y/n) and Lia. @disneyfan50 did my best to draw Lias hair style but i suck and need more practice XD also lias arm anatomy is just full on wrong and too long but its just a messy doodle, its fine.
@disneyfan50 a present for you~ is Lia getting some air time in her outfit from the most recent chapter of true defender~ (i don't think her wing span is accurate along with the color, i think there's supposed to be pink in it but mesa is feeling lazy with her art atm, the background is prime example about that, its not mine)
i think this took about an hour and a half from first sketch to turning it to a png
