[It is a true saying, that what you fear you find.]
You aren't responsible for someone's feelings, but you are responsible for your actions. Be conscious of that.
You know after all is said and done those who were quiet or complacent during the world's biggest atrocities are viewed and were viewed as instigators, supporters and even actors.
I feel that now... And I don't leave anyone out of it.
I could say I'm mad at Americans for letting what's going on go on. But I'm mad at myself because the shit going on in Europe isn't a walk in the park.
But I will do something, even if it's the smallest thing. Quiet whispers are never quiet in a crowd
A little something for all my fellow care worker 😀
HOW CAN YOU DO IT!!!
I've had many people say to me "How can you stomach what you do"
We may only have the title Care Assistant!
We may wear bodily fluids that are not ours on a daily basis.
We may have to change pads, commodes deal with bed sores and ulcers.
But there is so much more to being a Care Assistant.
We are the ones that wash and dress clients for the day.
We are the ones that help them do things they use to do for themselves.
We are the ones that listen when they speak.
We are the ones that listen to their life stories of how they used to be.
We are the ones who listen to their worries.
We are the ones who reassure when frightened.
We give them a friend when they are alone.
We work 7 days a week. Christmas day and bank holidays.
We give feedback to doctors.
We build up relationships with clients, get to know their family's.
We comfort family members when things are tough.
We do our best to meet their needs.
We are the ones who sit holding their hand, stroking their hair of them who no longer have family around when their time has come to gain their wings.
So my Answer to "How can I stomach what you do" IS THIS!!
If I can make one person smile a day, I consider it a good day.
They may never remember my name on a daily basis, but they will always remember how I made them feel. There is no better feeling than going home Knowing I've made someones day better just by being there, because the smallest act of kindness can have a huge impact on someones day!!!
So think before you ask again. It could be your Mum, Dad, Aunt, Uncle, husband or wife that may just need the compassion of a Care Assistant!!! Feel free to share and get us the reconition we deserve!!
"I'd rather be abandoned than mistreated. If I had to choose... y'know?"
If A Cat Finds A New Object In Its Environment...
It asks these three questions in this order:
1. Is it dangerous?
2. Can I eat it?
3. Can I sleep on it?
If the answers to 1 and 2 are no the answer to 3 will always be yes.
most of the stuff people worry about never happens
