Summary:

Keith grew up alone, passed from foster home to foster home with no real family of his own. The only one who stayed with him was Shiro, his best friend and protector with large snowy wings and a soft smile. He told Keith he was his guardian angel. Then one day, Shiro disappeared and never returned. Years later, Keith struggles to find his place among the elite pilots at the Garrison, his imaginary friend long forgotten.

But Shiro hasn’t forgotten him, and Keith didn’t know how dangerous Shiro had become.

Fic rec! 10k Sheith fic, with werewolves and an injured Shiro. Summary: Shiro's not entirely sure he wanted to be saved from the fight pits but he didn't have a choice in the matter. It's probably for the best that Shiro can't tell who saved him thanks to the drugs in his system though. Comment: Wow. Talk about complicated relationships. You have betrayal, loyalty, love, and hate. A Shiro's whose lost his job, his love, his purpose. A Keith who threw away his happiness, who hides in shadows and weathers the worst. There reveals and heartache, betrayal (for the 2nd time), and there goes 40 min of your life you were glad to give up.

Fic rec! Epic VLD fic featuring three flavors of sheith and a ton of cool worldbuiding. 235k. Read this over a month guys.

Summary: The war with the Galra has stretched on for centuries and the Resistance has been in shambles. With every passing day, the Galra’s control grows, infecting more worlds and building their army of mindless drones. Keith never cared for the war. Safe in the fringe colonies, surviving on nothing but his wits and skill, he thought the worst would pass him by. Until he met Shiro, a disgraced captain on borrowed time, standing against the Galra with nothing left to lose but himself.

A galactic war, a dangerous enemy, and a deadly synthetic virus. A story of two unwilling heroes fighting to find love against impossible odds.

Comments: wow-za. You run the gauntlet through this - every emotion imagined. And there are the bits you have to read a few times while pinching yourself cuz your not entirely sure of what happened is real. But nope, it is, and then you start swearing.

This is a true epic. Everyone goes through so much, but Shiro and Keith especially. And in fact, so much changes I’m hesitant on saying anything cuz i can’t remember what might be a spoiler and what may not be.

But the gang is all here. They ache and cry and love and grow and step into the stars as heroes. It’s not easy, but it’s right.

Fic rec! Save a lot of time for this, cuz its a 165k epic AU based on Asian myths that features Shieth and Hance and both broke my heart. Warning for smut, rape/non-con, mind control, violence, and tears.

Summary: Shiro’s heir to the Moon Kingdom, captured when Sun attacks. Keeping his identity secret he gets sent to the gladiator rings where he stumbles upon Kieth, one of the few Sun soliders who still have honor. Both of them fall afoul of Sendak, but the Commander’s actions might have enabled both of them to find a bit of peace in a war torn world.

Comments: Wooooooooooow. I highly enjoyed this. Every character has a full fledged arc (and Lance makes me cry all the time) and I love how history and myths are woven into the culture, plot, and character history here. Shiro and Kieth are practically doomed to chase eachother, never finding peace. Dragon!Lance has to keep watching Hink die and be reborn. Pidge is a genius, Allura an actual goddess who forges stars, and oh boy I hope Zarkon isn’t as creul in season 4 cuz damn.

TruebornAlpha has a way with emotions (go read the wip Project Zero too) so that you’ll start a chapter laughing and end it burying your heart in the ground cuz its too painful to keep. And then you keep going for the next 100k words.

Shameless fic recommendation for Legend of Sun and Moon (a Voltron AU) by TruebornAlpha  because it is one of the most amazing pieces of fan fiction I have EVER read. It is so long but so worth the time to finish. I don’t think the summary does the story any justice, it doesn’t even come close to telling the whole story, nor does its current kudos count.

If mythology/fantasy isn’t your think, I suggest giving this work a shot anyway. I seriously doubt you’ll be disappointed. There is a richness to the tale, a beautiful melding of elements of old and new, of ancient mythology and the modern story of Voltron that we’ve come to love so much. The prose is breathtaking, the imagery so vivid and lovely, the cultures of the world within described so clearly and beautifully. The characters are spot-on, true to their personalities in canon with stories that remain similar in the most basic form and yet everything about the story itself is unique and befitting of the setting and plot of the tale. 

You will laugh. You will cry. Your heart will break and be lifted up in equal doses as all the best stories do. Please, just go read it.
