Truegender
Truegender refers to having a gender identity that was discovered or uncovered as a personal truth after a period of it being unknown or undisclosed, but the discovery did not involve a social transition, meaning one did not undergo a significant change upon discovering the gender.
It is similar to transgender, but it specifies that a transition from one state to another did not occur, or that any changes to an individual's identity were not related to one's gender changing. It also does not necessarily imply that one's gender identity does not match one's AGAB.
A truegender individual may consider one's previous gender identity or identities to be incorrect or irrelevant, and that one's current gender identity or identities is the true one that was inside all along. Therefore, one did not transition to that gender but rather just discovered it was there.
One may be truegender for many reasons including:
Already socially presenting or acting as the gender identity before discovering it.
Not changing the way one socially presents or acts after discovering one's gender identity.
Being apathetic to gender and therefor not changing significantly after discovering one's gender identity.
Being transgender but not transsex.
Being transsex but not considering the social aspect of their identity to have changed.
Discovering one's gender identity at a young age and therefore never having to socially transition later in life.
Discovering that one's gender identity is not too dissimilar from the previous gender one identified as.
Discovering a gender identity that does not require many changes in one's life.
Feeling that any changes one goes through after discovering one's gender identity are not related to the gender identity.
Feeling as though one is not transgender even though one's current gender identity does not match one's AGAB.
Feeling as though one is not cisgender even though one's current gender identity does match the one's AGAB. This could be due to detransitioning, discovering a gender identity that is similar to one's AGAB, or discovering one's gender in a new context that feels more true to the individual somehow.
Not believing that gender is something one can transition to and therefore preferring to consider it a discovery rather than a transition.
