Today we celebrate the Holy Prophet Elijah (Elias) the Tishbite. The Prophet Elijah defended the worship of the True God over that of the Canaanite idol Baal. God also performed many miracles through Elijah, including raising the dead, bringing fire down from the sky, and taking the prophet up to heaven by a whirlwind on a fiery chariot.
