In other ways, she was exactly the same as them. So in order to not lose herself, when she turned sixteen years old, she run away and never looked back. Since she left her family at such a young age Raina has found support in others and dreams of someday creating a family that she can truly call her own.

Aranis: Will you come on?! We're going to be late for the museum opening at this rate!
Corbin: Babe, you got to relax geesh
Aranis flustered, trying to hide his blush.
Aranis: How many times do I have to tell you not to call me th-
Corbin spinning around, snatched his glasses from his nose with a smirk. Aranis glared at him, the crystal facets glistening.
Corbin: You tell me not to do a lot of things, Aranis.
Grabbing a fistful of his shirt, he pulled him forward, placing a kiss lightly on his lips for all to see.
Aranis: I hate you. *smirks*
Corbin: I know. Let's get to the opening.
Aranis Terlath
Age: 75 years old (young adult) Gender: Male (he/him) Race: Drow Class: Wizard Aspiration: Archaeology Scholar
Traits: Blunt / Researcher / Practical / Introvert / Tea Lover
"Oh my! Your eyes!" A common, annoying, phrase Aranis hears quite often. More than he'd like frankly. All too aware he doesn't fit the expectations of what a drow "should" look like, he tends to keep away from social situations all together. Preferring instead to lose himself in a book or work on one of his many creations.
Rule one: never touch the glasses. Simple. Not a request. And yet, Corbin is incapable of following it! No matter how many years passes, Aranis still finds himself wanting turn him into something more useful. In truth, Aranis cares deeply about Corbin but isn't quite ready to face that truth or what it's implications could hold for his work.
Aranis was always expected to marry well and continue his farm. This was not the life he wanted of course, and instead pleaded for a chance to study first. His father accepted the request, and he quickly started under his mentor. Much to his own surprise, cataloging ancient history quickly become a deep passion for Aranis and he loved his mentor dearly. He was an older drow and gifted in magic. Aranis even managed to learn some useful spells from the old man. That was before the "incident".
The pair were excavating an old tomb when the diggers came across a glowing crystal perched atop a pedestal. Aranis' mentor did not like the aura coming from it. Instructing Aranis to guard the crystal while he evacuated the diggers, less they succumb to the melody vibrating from the mysterious stone. Aranis however, fell into that lullaby, reaching out to touch the beautiful facets. The last audible thing he can remember was his mentor screaming "DON'T!" And then darkness.
The crystal had begun to consume his very soul when his mentor stepped in to counter the magical flow. Shattering glass echoed off the tomb walls in the magical explosion that followed. Particles of the crystal lodged into his eyes, rendering his vision black. The spell had worked to save Aranis, but in the process had ripped his mentor to shreds. Naturally the world has no use for a blind scholar, so he was shipped back to his fathers farm stead.
Life has interesting loops though, and fate had other plans for Aranis. By chance, as he sat in the back garden, he overheard some children playing with crystal fragments. They giggled at the spectacular rainbows the light shafts produced. It was then Aranis had an idea. As he began to concentrate on his magic, he could feel the crystal fragments in his eyes responding. With time and practice he was able to restore his vision, sort of. Any break in his concentration of magic will pull the veil over him again til the connection is restored.
Now Aranis is free to persue his work and of course has the company of the worlds most annoying vampire. Gosh, he's cute though....
Corbin Ralston
Age: 120 years old (young adult) Gender: Male (he/him) Race: Half-Elf Vampire Class: Warlock Aspiration: Freelance Botanist Traits: Non Committal / Child of Nature / Mysterious / Unpredictable / Seducer
Always the colorful character, Corbin has always lived his life as a free spirit. Much to the dismay of his family. He wanted to be left alone to tend his plants and court whomever he wished, of course the lady of the house would hear none of this. So Corbin did the most rational thing he could think of: make a pact with his patron to be rid of them all together.
Unfortunately, Corbin didn't quite read the fine print. He awoke to screaming while dark energies tore his family to shreds before him. Frozen in shock, all he could do was submit when the tendrils came for him. The most horrific pain you can imagine ripped through his veins as the dark gift was bestowed upon him.
After a few years wondering alone, he happened by chance to encounter a curious scholar. This scholar of course would turn out to be Aranis, and the pair have worked together ever since. Where Aranis is reserved and serious, Corbin could not be more polar opposite. He loves parties, plants, joking around and lust filled dance floors.
Many have always questioned his and Aranis' relationship to one another. A topic Aranis of course quickly shuts down, much to the grimace of Corbin who enjoys teasing him. In truth, the pair of shared a bed from time to time, but always left it there. Nothing more. Corbin however would like to change that if Aranis would let him...
Okay, last one...I promise. These two remind me a lot of the main characters from a fantasy novel I started writing a long time ago. Honestly, though...I’m enjoying alpha hair a lot more than I used to. Maybe it’s because my editing doesn’t suck anymore and I can make it work. Hope you guys liked this random shoot.
