Over the course of a few months, the sun makes it way towards the outer perimeter as it enters the winter solstice running its laps in the Tropic of Cancer. _______________________________________________________________ As the cycles continue through the seasons of winter and spring, the sun returns closer to the center in a shorter traveled circuit as summer approaches, giving us more day light in this season. _______________________________________________________________ This is why we have shorter days in the winter. The sun is traveling a much larger circuit and further away from the center as it illuminates more of the outer perimeter known as the icewall.
