My cats could beat up your cats.
Yes, a 30 hits my level one rogue….
Your backstory can and will be used against you at this table…
creating a new character for a new ttrpg campaign as someone who loves lore will have you do some crazy ass shit
like making state seals with full mottos and explanations of the symbolism, writing up extensive family trees complete with family crests, creating entire pantheons, learning how to read the cyrillic alphabet (for russian, at least), and doing extensive wikipedia dives on topics like horse coat color genetics and the october revolution
Using a generic "medieval aesthetic" playlist because I haven't prepared anything for an rpg session but I'm shaking my head the whole time so that people know I don't agree with putting Chopin's Revolutionary Etiude in a playlist called *medieval ballroom dancing*
When you actually had regular weekly TTRPG sessions for weeks and weeks and then suddenly in the past month one person or another hasn't been able to make it... and you were right at the final boss fight for the adventure...
Small magicks: the way your dice seem multiply. How is it that I always find new ones in dark corners, under couch cushions, in pockets of disused backpacks, and in the hand of my 2 year old?
Little bit of a vent post because I am super anxious about my Pathfinder game tonight and I'm unsure on how to air it to my group or DM...
It's a long one. Not looking for advice on dealing with this, but I wont turn it down either since I'm not enjoying my game as much atm...
I get along with 3/4 of my group, this is including the DM. I am the youngest and I'm the only woman/person, playing the only, openly queer woman in the party and have the least experience in playing ttrpgs. (Also have a feeling this guy doesn't like women or lesbians as well tbh)
The one player I don't get along with just...
I don't know if I'm being unreasonable but there have been multiple instances of this guy forcing me into a role I never designed my character for. Mechanically speaking, sure, my beefy wyvaran is the party tank, but I've made her a book and history nerd, who gets anxious around cute women and having your character's personality constantly based on what they are mechanically isn't fun for everyone. It's fine for some, but not for me.
What he does get's worse than that, to be honest, and not just to me but I feel like I'm the main target. He will get pissy if he doesn't get his way, comes up with overcomplicated, really dumb fucking plans and expects us all to be okay with it/go along with them and got pissy over us, the party, wanting to buy things like potions and work together to have a group fund to buy useful group items with.
My character (and to an extend, me) got practically laughed at when I suggested that we use a decoy to lure a false hydra into attacking since it had marked our rogue. Something my character doesn't even have to role to figure out. I ended up just doing it anyway and it worked but I was still mocked for it.
One comment irked me the other day too and I knew he was referring to me. So, atm, our party doesn't have a healer, this is fine, potions get us by a lot of the time, my friend suggested - "We can always hire a cleric," which, we could, nothing stopping us, but this guy bitched anout the suggestion with - "By that logic, we might as well hire another meat shield," ...I'm sorry, what?
I didn't build a fucking meat shield. I built a warrior who cares about protecting the party and dealing raw damage. I built a character who's complex, with a personality and struggles. Not a 'meat shield.'
His bullshit also extends to talking over me, not letting me roleplay, talking over others and not letting them rp, constantly taking over the entire game with just their shit, being, frankly, kinda rude, intentionally planning to fuck up lore I've put into my friend's homebrew about the class I play and just general bitching about people's back up characters, the classes and why he hates those classes.
It's getting on my last nerves and now he's planning to retire one character, to make a healer, because he wants us all to be mechanically sufficient and perfect, while the rest of us are happy to use potions and items. I'm worried by this because I feel like he's going to step on my toes when it comes to my character liking books and history. Thus being forced into being just the 'meat shield.'
