headcanon that varian rubs his throat and winces slightly when he lies, due to a slight pain that occurs every time he says something untrue. since the truth serum didn’t affect him for as long as it realistically should, let’s say it faded, but had that unpleasant side effect.

it’s a very obvious tell for anyone who wants to find out if he’s lying.

This moment in the Hanged Man makes me insaaaaaane because it's like, Rune isn't making a vow to Brand right here but there's the tripartite repetition that is really really close to how Atlanteans tend to swear oaths. Like, check out how similar this one is to the oath Ciaran swears in the Hourglass Throne:

At the very least, it definitely highlights how important Brand is to Rune that he was the one Rune was looking at when he made his final vow to the Arcanum. But what really makes me insane is this:

I can't help but wonder if the two are connected: Rune's narration repeating that he saw Brand three times and Brand saying that he felt Rune, magically. I'm rotating this moment in my head like a mental beyblade.

I've been rewatching TTS episodes (the youtube Disney Channel finally released all s1 episodes in my country!) and I realized that in Painter's Block, Xavier explains that Demanitus captured evil spirits and kept them prisoner in the hidden mountain chamber that holds the Demanitus Device.

We see this scene:

Sugracha's spirit was released after the "block" in the middle of this screenshot was broken. We see that there's more "blocks" beside it, so this combined with Xavier's explanation leads me to believe there's more spirits (people?) like Sugracha and Tromus kept prisoner inside them, and the fact all of them most likely have Zhan Tiri's crest on them implies to me that there are way, more followers of Zhan Tiri than we saw in the show.

Sugracha and Tromus may have been only two of her Disciples, the only ones who previously followed Demanitus.

I wonder how many Disciples he locked inside that chamber...

The Hurt Incantation

(Naw man lets write about a fictional series and its fictional magic/science as opposed to doing actual science.)

So as many of us have realized, Varian wasn’t phased (pun intented) by the Hurt Incantation, although everyone was dropping like flies feeling ill from the last time Rapunzel used it. We saw Varian’s gloves just get Thanos snapped out of existence when he tries to touch her, and the amber straight up melts at it’s touch so it obviously worked (kinda surprised Quirin wasn’t harmed because of it), but he himself wasn’t reacting??

I don’t know how many of you watch Steven Universe or are all caught up but maybe the Hurt Incantation is similar to Blue Diamond’s sadness/despair powers. Lapis, when she was in proximity to be affected by the literal wave of sadness that Blue gave off, wasn’t affected because she’s “felt worse.” I wonder since Varian is fantastic at emotional parkour he’s “felt worse” and was just way, way too hopeful about the whole situation to be affected. It’s a long shot, and hell maybe he still is tied to the moon opal somehow.

With all of the #Ricky’s Quest stuff going on, I’ve started digging in to the first season to see anything that I’ve missed. Instead, I noticed every time the Disney-villian-green color popped up. You know the one. 

So far, I’ve noticed three times in the two seasons--excluding the Zhan Tiri ones (cuz jeez it doesn’t take a genius to figure out he’s the bad guy). Also, feel free to add more scenes if you caught some that I missed. The first is when Cass was carrying that green lantern in Before Ever After:

Some fancy villain-green fire. Note that only Varian and Cassandra are present. And finally third is in the second season, Rapunzeltopia. 

I’d like to point out that the first gif of Cass and Varian is the exact same green tint of fire as the last two. And I don’t believe it was an accident, either. And now that we’ve seen Cassandra’s fall and already witness Varian’s I think it’s foreshadowing their team up. The fire engulfed both of them. Yet ironically enough, it got to Varian first. 👇
