If you've played...
...just about any main-stream wargame over the years, there's a good chance you've played with, or at least seen, some of the work of the Perry Twins. They've been sculpting models for ages; everything from Warhammer Fantasy to their own Perry Miniatures historicals. They even made a cameo in Jackson's Lord of the Rings films.
However, in the epics of gamer lore, one note that I feel belongs on the level of the Ballad of Shooter and Wheels or Chaos Confetti is why Michael Perry sculpts left-handed.
Being a member of a reenactment troupe, Michael was fighting at the Battle of Crécy. As he was reloading a cannon, a spark from the previous shot set off the charge he was loading. This fired the ramrod at great speed, Michael's right hand unfortunately still grasping it at the time. You would think this the end of an artistic career- but he's kept going since, and in his interviews seems to have better humor over it than you'd expect.
He's a man with passion for his art, for history, and for the world of hobbies; he and his brother are practically installments in the pantheon of wargaming; and on top of all that, he is also a cannon-fire casualty of the Hundred Years' War. I couldn't make up a man more on-theme than him. I say he deserves the respect of tabletop gamers one and all for his work.
