OH GOD i got the old one back. So if you ever come to tumblr and see the new version - which is terrible - you can go to your dashboard settings and toggle the “go back to old dashboard” thing.

So the #tumblrapocalypse has old fans like me reminiscing about past purges - LJ Strikethrough, the wiping out of GeoCities, disatrous changes to Delicious or more recently Flickr, even the trashing of the TWOP forums. All those blogs lost in time, like tears in rain.
The irony of our high tech age is that we live in a time when our records are more ephemeral than ever. You can read a book from 200 years ago, but changes to hardware mean content from 20 years ago is inaccessible. And we lose internet content every day. As a digital archivist, i know that many media sites cull content after a couple of years. Websites shut down, or get bought out. Sometimes posts are deleted when a writer leaves a site.
Supernatural fandom of course has the SuperWiki - we are an independent, fan owned and run site for hosting material and i hope some fan projects from Tumblr will find a home with us. Sadly though we have many dead links on the Wiki - ghosts of content that's passed from this world. Check out our front page for the latest fandom response to the events including fan efforts to archive threatened blogs
There is also AO3, the fan owned archive, which has been critical for housing fanfic but unfortunately it doesn't host images, video, or audio (yet!)
Its a good reminder - whatever you create - to archive and backup. Find independent sites to host your blog or photos. If Facebook went offline tomorrow, think of how much of your own stories and content you'd lose, the friends and families you'd lose touch with.
Twitter obviously is a trash heap that can burn in hell any time it wants.
So this appeared on my work’s tumblr today. No idea how widespread it is.
It does raise the question why didn’t @Staff / @support roll this out when they first starting flagging posts as “sensitive” rather than waiting a month after they made an announcement that pissed off pretty much everyone who uses tumblr?
You people make the Trump Administration look like a well-oiled machine.
A message to Tumblr
Look Tumblr I get it, you want a more friendly app or whatever because it was deemed so bad it got pulled off the app store. Fine makes sense. However, you've done a shit job. The amount of porn bots that follow me is ridiculous, and guess what? It hasn't stopped since your stupid ban. You wanna know why that is? Because in your infinite wisdom you've for whatever reason targeted only porn that was tagged. That's the worst thing you could do, that is not fixing the actual problem. It's fine to have porn on Tumblr but it has to be done a certain way. What's that way? Well porn should be properly tagged so if I want to avoid that content I can. You have a feature to block certain tags. You also have an adult content filter. The fuck is the point of that now? The problem is not the adult content itself it's the porn bots and the lack of structure when it comes to posting. If someone posts a butthole and I don't want to see that specifically but am open to other adult content what should I do? Usually block things tagged with butthole. Makes sense. Can I do that of the picture isn't tagged? Nope. Things that are properly tagged are a God send, those that aren't need to be revised a bit better. Your skin filter? Sure as hell ain't working because I was followed a few days ago and what was on that blog? Full on porn videos. Don't get rid of porn have a better fucking structure so those who want to see it can and those who don't find it easy to avoid. You fucking took the easy way to solve your problem, and guess what that means? It didn't actually solve the problem. It's like when you get asked a question on a test and you answer something completely different than what the asked question was. Congrats Tumblr you got 0 fucking points because you can't follow directions.

None of my stuffs gotten flagged yet, but I definitely don't have enough followers for it to even matter. My stuff gets z e r o attention anyway. It seems like maybe 40% of Tumblr users will be leaving, so I'll just leave a reminder that my main social media is my Instagram, whisperingdusk. I hope this all gets resolved because if I keep going this could be a really good place for my art, but I haven't reached that and with all this maybe I never will here.
The plan for now is that I'm gonna stay, but if everything is empty then I'll go inactive for a while too. I'm a completely SFW artist but I've seen a lot of art getting flagged that's completely fine. I just hope this all gets resolved but a lot of damage is already done.
What the fuck is going on? I came on tumblr and my eyes are bleeding like the contrast is up 70 percents.

This does not bode well for tumblr.
