Campfire, chilly hands, and blissful? C: 💛
Character A and Character B are on a camping trip together!
After a fun day exploring the trails, the pair return to their campsite and light a fire. As the sun begins to set, they crack open cans of soda and roast hot dogs and corn over the campfire before switching to marshmallows, which they sandwich between graham crackers and rich, gooey chocolate. The night sky is clear and sprinkled with beautiful stars, the campground is quiet and peaceful, and as the hour grows later, A and B’s conversation turns to the kinds of deep, satisfying subjects that only come up during late nights with people you love.
The only thing disturbing A’s bliss is the fact that their hands are so darn cold! Even when they hold them out towards to fire to try to warm them, the heat never seems to seep beyond their skin. As soon as they move their hands away, their fingertips go numb again.
B -- who is the kind of person who always runs naturally warm -- notices A’s predicament and tells them to come sit closer so they can help. When B takes A’s hands in their own, they’re shocked at just how cold poor A’s fingers are. They feel like chips of ice! Immediately, B tucks A’s hands in the warmest place they can think of -- under their jacket and sweatshirt, right up against their tummy.
A is a little surprised -- but B’s tummy is very soft and warm, and almost immediately, A feels the prickle of blood flowing back into their frigid fingers. (Maybe they can feel some gentle grumbles from all the s’mores B has been eating too. c;) For a moment, they’re caught up in how nice it feels. Then they remember their concern and protest -- isn’t it unpleasant for B to have cold hands on their tummy?
B chuckles and tells them no -- it’ll take more than that to dampen their inner warmth! And they keep A cuddled up against their side for the rest of the night to make sure they don’t get chilled again.
