What did the staff do this time?
TL;DR reblogs with comments now work like quote-retweets.
As detailed in this post, effective today, reblogs with added commentary have their own note counts separate from the OG post. The OP doesn't see any notes from people who interact with the post via the reblog.
You want a tangible example? Take this post I made a few days ago:
However, if I were to find a specific reblog that I happen to remember getting popular and check the notes of that, I get this note count instead:
Before this update (which, again, happened this morning), all those notes (and more!) were accredited to the og post that I made, and I could view those on a whim with a single click instead of digging to find that one reblog. That includes those four replies, plus any others that anyone decides to leave at any point in the future.
Somehow, this isn't even the worst part. The worst part is that this update completely breaks the functionality of the "turn off reblogs" function. If you turn off reblogs on the OG post, that doesn't affect anyone who reblogged the post with commentary.
It is because of this that future posts that I make will have reblogs disabled. I'll revert this change to the blog once staff reverts the change to the site.
Post linked above gives advice on sending in a support ticket to give feedback.
