The natural world is abundant with circles. Observing these circles in the world, each eye with its circular lens apprehends the world in circular units. In circle-shaped paintings, configured for a domestic scale, I have sought to catch some of the beauty of the rhythms, curves and pitches of a lively river valley. These valley shapes are inherently pleasing; wave-like shapes of rivers and mountains are pleasant and beautiful. Here’s an odd one. A #coveredbridge in #california . That’s not the odd part. The odd part is that this is just some standard concrete #bridge and they made it look like an old school covered bridge. You really don’t see many covered bridges in these parts. But this one seems to be a bit of an homage to the old bridge that once was. Originally built in 1915. Then rehabbed in 1969. But replaced by this in 2000.
