Psalm 40:4 (NKJV) - Blessed is that man who makes the LORD his trust, And does not respect the proud, nor such as turn aside to lies.
But as for those who turn aside to their crooked ways, the Lord will lead them away with the doers of iniquity....
Psalms 125:5, NASB
1 SAMUEL S.O.A.P. ~ CHAPTER 12
Monday, 5/26/25 (Memorial Day)
SCRIPTURE:
But Samuel answered the people, “Don’t be afraid. "Yes, you’ve done all this evil; just don’t turn back from following the LORD. "Serve the LORD with all your heart. "Don’t turn aside to follow useless idols that can’t help you or save you. "They’re absolutely useless! "For the sake of His reputation, the LORD won’t abandon His people, because the LORD has decided to make you His very own people." ~ 1 Samuel 12:20-22
OBSERVATION:
I have done "all this evil" -
Maybe (hopefully?) nothing "headline worthy" -
- nothing that would make "Dateline" or "48 Hours" -
...but still, evil in that it is me being selfish and willful in the face of His grace and mercy...
My "turning aside to follow useless idols" - distractions and wants - that I know can't help me or save me...
His reputation is why He sent Jesus -
...why He hasn't abandoned me in spite of all that...
...because He as decided to make me one of His very own people!
APPLICATION:
Don't be afraid!
Don't turn back!
Serve Him with all my heart!
Fear the LORD, worship Him, obey Him, and do not rebel against the His command! (verse 14)
“So now take a stand! Look at this awesome thing the LORD is doing." (verse 16)
Just fear the LORD and serve Him faithfully with all your heart. Look at what great things He has done for you!" (verse 24)
PRAYER: (Using verses 10 - 14)
Lord Father God - I cry out, confessing what You already know, that I have sinned because I have abandoned Your will and have worshipped and chased after my distractions and selfish willfulness. Please deliver me from the power of the enemy, that I may worship You wholeheartedly... I am grateful for the times that You have delivered me from the power of the enemy, and that I have lived safe and secure... May Your Holy Spirit continue to teach me how to fear You, worship You, obey You, and not rebel against Your commands - In the way and Name of Your Son, Jesus, and for Your ultimate and everlasting praise and glory...
For Him, for you, and for yours...

If an opponent casts Fiery Temper and targets me, I let it resolve, then opponent directs the damage to a planeswalker I control, am I able to cast Turn Aside to counter the damage to the planeswalker?
No, this doesn’t work.
When Fiery Temper is resolving, no one will get priority again until after it has finished resolving fully. It’s too late to do anything about Fiery Temper, even if the damage is redirected to your planeswalker.
Additionally, your planeswalker is never the target of Fiery Temper; you are. Turn Aside could never legally target Fiery Temper at any point here.
