This is one of the Butcher birds. They built a nest in our garden and we were swooped going to the washing line and even if we stepped out the back door. I rang a wildlife expert to see if they’d relocate them - they told me to befriend them with food.
Now they call me when they want a treat and for those concerned about them losing the ability to find food for themselves, they still do that and sometimes proudly show what they’ve caught.
Still completely wild, we’ve learned to co-exist and respect them.
When my partner mows, instead of swooping they realise they can feed on the insects and bugs.
We don’t use any pesticides so we have lots of birds, butterflies, but sadly not seen many bees 🐝
It’s been a beautiful experience gaining their trust and woe betide any intruders as they are scarier than my dogs
