As you get more immersed in the storytelling, hopefully you realize very quickly that you don't have the objectivity of looking down on this pit, you're inside this pit with everybody else.

#the pitt#noah wyle#tv soundtrack#tv score#(lack thereof)#mygifs#i have a lot of thoughts about this!#the pitt bts#don't love the framing/explanation on this but it's interesting#it's vaguely insulting but imagine somewhat realistic that some viewers are watching distracted and otherwise use music for cues on emotion#i have mentioned *at length* how i hate feeling emotionally manipulated by shows often via music#when it's not earned but they push the right buttons to make me cry anyway. i hate that#however! good music can heighten and enhance the performances#I was thinking about his comments on this while watching s2 of the bear and realizing very emotional scenes didn't have music#and it felt right! but a good show with good writing and performances will work a lot of ways#I think it can be more a stylistic choice at that point#but as y'all know I think my main show was cheapened and let down by a truly mediocre to bad score#and I wonder how long Noah wyle has had that phrasing about being in the pit with them on deck lol#I loved er and watched it growing up so I have a fondness for him and hyper accurate medical dramas#i never watch a show like this distracted. if i'm watching a show i'm 100% paying attention#i have occasionally done it with shows i had a hard time getting engaged where i started them while painting#but then i did need to go back and rewatch with my full attention once i was actually interested
