The Night Agent Season 2: Rose’s Evolution, Struggles, and What’s Next
Season 2 of The Night Agent on Netflix took everything we loved about the first season and raised the stakes, particularly for Rose Larkin (Luciane Buchanan). From damsel in distress to action hero, Rose emerged as one of the standout characters in the thrilling second season, showcasing her resilience, resourcefulness, and moral compass.
Rose’s Transformation: From Survivor to Hero
Rose’s journey in Season 2 saw her step into a more active role in the high-stakes world of Night Action. Her evolution began with spy work, including going undercover at the Iranian embassy and helping neutralize a chemical weapon. Alongside Peter Sutherland (Gabriel Basso), Rose became a critical asset, proving her capability time and time again.
This shift was intentional. In an interview with Deadline, Buchanan explained, “Season 1, she went through a lot of trauma... I wanted to make sure that she’s not this squeaky clean, well-adjusted human.” Rose’s growth as a character felt real because she carried the consequences of her past into her present, making her transformation all the more believable.
Moral Compass and Mental Struggles
One of Rose’s defining traits this season was her ability to remain a voice of reason amidst chaos. Whether convincing Peter to work with Catherine or showing compassion to Noor, Rose constantly reminded those around her of the human cost of their actions.
At the same time, Rose faced her own struggles, seeking therapy to address her trauma and fears of being consumed by darkness. Buchanan described the dynamic between Rose and Peter as “trauma bonding,” with their shared experiences drawing them closer, even as their paths diverged.
What’s Next for Rose?
The Season 2 finale left fans wondering about Rose’s future. With Peter telling her to stay away for her safety, it seems like their story has reached an emotional yet open-ended conclusion. While Buchanan couldn’t confirm if Rose will return in Season 3, she hinted at the character’s determination, saying, “I don’t think Rose takes well to direction; she does whatever she wants.”
A Heroine in Her Own Right
Could Rose become a Night Agent herself? She’s certainly proven capable, outshining the professionals in many ways. Whether or not she takes on an official title, one thing is clear: Rose has cemented her place as a fan-favorite character.
As Season 3 begins production, fans are left speculating about Rose’s next steps. Will she return to Peter’s world? Or will she find her own path forward?
