Worried because he can hear the TV. When it’s on, Dad invariably eventually gets all tense and yells a lot about “the ball,” and stops petting him to concentrate on being tense and yelling about “the ball.” It’s not his ball. His ball is on the kitchen floor.

I think he may even have a stronger negative reaction to that specific sports-announcer cadence than to other TV sounds.
