tulip : how does your muse view people in general ?
Reaper is curious about people. About their habits, the things they do; the way they carry their life. He’s very interested in humanity and often finds himself wishing to get in the depth of it instead of watching from the sidelines as he was originally told.
There are times where he’s jealous of people, because they have a purpose of their own, because they have a name they can respond to, because they have what he doesn’t have. And, sure, he indeed used to be fully human once upon a time, yet he cannot relish in any of these memories because he’s forgotten them all.
So, in a way, Reaper views people with interest and endearment, but also with tinges of envy due to foreign desire. He’s also had moments where he’s expressed frustration and/or discontent toward people, but this really depends on the person and the things they’ve done (especially if he’s on the job and finds out about their sins, etc.).
violet : how does your muse respond to betrayal ?
MY HEART’S ALREADY CRYING WITH THIS ONE BECAUSE...well, I think that in the show we can see two different stages of betrayal: 1) the one where he feels he’s been betrayed and 2) the betrayal he created himself out of bad faith, both developed during his youth and transcending until his current timeline, centuries later.
We can see that during his youth, his emotions ran high and he was blinded with useless resentment and manipulated by someone who wanted the Kingdom for himself. Here, he thinks he’s been betrayed by Kim Shin and so he sends death to him and his entire family, burning bridges down and creating a rift that would eventually lead to Shin’s wish for revenge. In this sense, Reaper (as a young and naive King) responds horribly to betrayal, doesn’t hear the reasons, doesn’t let anyone talk and convince him otherwise. He goes straight to creating violence and being consumed by something that could’ve been stopped if only he really listened. Later on, regret is the one that truly ends up consuming him because he realizes he did horribly wrong.
As Reaper, centuries later, his response to betrayal carries a heavy heart. In this setting, I think Reaper wouldn’t betray anyone easily, for he’s matured and grown; his experiences are vaster than those of his youth. Nevertheless, when he realizes that he’s been the traitor all along (the one who, in a way, started Goblin’s curse), he enters into such deep sadness that he asks Goblin to end with his existence if he must, because he thinks it’s what he deserves for unfairly ending with lives of innocent people.
TLDR; Not well and within reason IUWEHDIUWEH
willow : how does your muse handle sadness & depression ?
Depends on what he’s sad about, but he’s very prone to sulking or moping when he’s sad. He’ll sit down and stare at nothing for hours with a can of beer in his hand; he’ll even drink medicine at times as if that could fix something (even if medicine does absolutely nothing on him). There are times where sadness hits hard and he’ll cry. This happens when deeper situations take place (losing someone, experiencing the painful sting in his chest, having profound regret over something, realizing how unfair death is -- especially when he has to guide children to the next life -- etc.). In these cases, he really does need a helping hand, someone who can perhaps soothe his worries and help him get out of that hole.
