okay why is there 30 seconds of silence at the start. I thought YouTube finally fucked my adblock.

The music is descent so far. Very rhyme heavy. All the parodies I've seen were accurate

Okay, I got to the halfway mark and I have to stop for today because of the time. I'll finish it tomorrow. My overall thoughts is that it is entertaining enough, even though I don't like it's politics. The songs are good, not really my type. I can see why it got popular though.

I might post a part 2 for my reaction to the second part. Depending on factors and such. Sorry for not having so much to say about it.

I have no idea where that one is from, I'd love to see the original post and what I was responding to! I haven't been in the Hamilton fandom for over 5 years, but I truly wanna see what I was saying back in 2016/7!

I think I might have an idea, being that someone sent me that heritagepost about the whole Miku Binder Thomas Jefferson. Here's where I stand;

Hamilton is a separate work from historical figures. Just like other historical figures (see Blackbeard and Stede Bonnet) have been taken and changed into something else by artists. No, I do not think that Hamilton was the Best Musical Ever anymore; no, I do not think that it handled well the past of slavers (such as Laurens or Jefferson), and no, I do not think that Lin Manuel Miranda handled it entirely too well.

Lots of people were harassing a lot of artists and folk who enjoyed Hamilton the Musical and there was doxxing, there was the fucking uhhh Cannibal Mermaid thing, and people were genuinely harmed in this fandom. It's one reason why I left it, and obviously I do not hold the ideals that I had when I was 17 years old, lmao.

That said: I love to see people desperately scrounging the internet for Bad Takes I had when it was 2018 just to call me whatever you want and Cancel Me. Have fun trying to come up with that time I stepped on a dog's tail when I was 12 so I'm an animal abuser!

You won't care, bc you already blocked me - you don't want to help. You don't want to bring attention to actual harmful behavior. All you want to do is dunk me. You're welcome to, lots of people do! Not perfect, never claimed to be. Hope you lost tons of time searching for this!

Finally, I want to say something to anyone reading this: I'm not deleting the ask. I'm not going to hide it. Because I did hold wrong ideas when I was younger, as it happens. And I was a dick when I was younger, as it happens. I'm glad to have grown! And I'm glad I'm alive and able to change and grow.

I hate Hamilton and all that it represents but here’s what I will say. The music does go hard and Lin Manuel Miranda was absolutely goated for the idea of a hiphop opera (I.E a musical where there’s never a dialogue break and it’s all set to music no speaking) and I will do anything for one that isn’t about the founding fucking fathers. Someone put this man in a blunt rotation with Snoop dog, a theater gay, a drag queen, and someone who has a special interest in an obscure historical figure that didn’t do slavery or genocide so we can get ideas flowing right now.
