I really hate being a hypochondriac bro... I can't stop googling shit once the thoughts start and then I get so nauseous and dizzy. Ew ew ew ew-
Idk if I want to really talk about it further incase it gets someone disgusted or uncomfy though...
Category 5 hypochondria/ contamination triggering event as I had to clean 4 (four) vases of stale water (the water had not been changed for a week) (the water reeked so foul that it was worse than lake water it just smelled like pee at that point uughhhhh) (my fault for not changing the water and now the dead flowers were taking their revenge on me) (the amoeba are gonna Get Me) (my aunt got an amoeba eye infection from a pool years ago and now my forever fear is the stale water eye eating amoeba) (😫😫😫😫😫😭😭😭😭😭😭)
edit midway thru writing this post:okay well i dont want to trigger anyone elses anxieties and phobias so! under the cut we have:
me talking specifically about norovirus & fears related to that; ocd rituals; emetophobia rituals/fears; hypochondria; unsanitary food practices (hypothetical); i ended up talking about my bowel movements. sorry
guy who has emetophobia and therefore an extremely deepseated fear of getting sick from food, as well as (currently mild) ocd, learning about 2 separate cases (people i know personally or tangentially) of norovirus:
(edit midway thru writing this post: i was rambling in the tags but u can see those without clicking the readmore so im moving them here. got 2 tags deep and i was like hang on let me not trigger the fuck out of anyone who might have the same problems as me!)
WASHES MY HANDS ONE WILLIAM TIMES.
z was like. HOW WOULD WE GET NOROVIRUS. and i was like we've eaten out a lot this week!!!! any one of those fuckers could have gone and shit their brains out and come and touched our food!!! b got sick from being in the same bathroom as ppl shitting their brains out!!!!
anyways today is my second day home and yesterday my poop was kind of weird. and TODAY its really bad. and i realized both happened after i had my coffee. and that my creamer was not very cold anymore when i made it home (the icepack situation in the lunchbox was less than ideal) AND has real dairy in it (MOST flavored coffeemate and delight creamers do not) AND has been open since i was in nc at the end of march
so like. its Probably my creamer. my tummy doesn't even hurt at all. BUT IM SO PARANOID
and i absolutely cannot under ANY circumstances look up the symptoms or symptom progression of norovirus.
Hi hello! Could you write something for a hypochondriac MC and GE Saeran? Something where she struggles with trying new foods because she is scared of an allergic reaction or overthinks every small chestpain thinking its a sign of heart problems? It would mean a lot to me and thank you so much
GE Saeran understands what it feels like to be afraid you're going to fall ill at every corner. After all, he spent his entire childhood trying to avoid getting sick because his health was already poor to begin with. Even as an adult, he's easily susceptible to other illnesses because he didn't have a chance to build up a proper immune system. Getting his shots and records up to date has been a journey, and you've been by his side every step of the way to make it feel less daunting.
But, even so, you put yourself in a situation where you had to fight some of the strongest fears you possess for his sake. You're afraid to be in hospitals and you certainly don't like to be around doctors. You side-eye everyone and hold your tongue even though you mentioned to him before you left the house that your lungs felt tight.
You worry for his health just as you worry for your own. But, the main degree to which you worry... well, worries him. He knows there's no way to control how, when, or why you get sick. It just happens and there's nothing anyone can do to stop it even if they take every single precaution in the book.
You can do everything right and still get sick. It's not your fault, and it's nothing to beat yourself up over, but seeing you fearful of paper cuts, heat rashes, and your own heartbeat gives him all he needs to know your fears are stronger than an average person's.
He isn't sure why you're afraid, and while he does some research to see if he can learn more about your fears and how they make you respond to things, he realizes just how daunting it must be for you to fear the worst and not be taken seriously.
Even if you're not sick, to have your concern thrown out of the window because it's "nothing" isn't fair. That's why it further dawns on him that you don't always talk to other people about these fears. You're honest and open with him because you trust him with your fears but you don't have the same kind of conversations with your dear friends, much less the RFA, and it goes to show how internalized these fears have become. He may not know the source but he knows things are far from easy for you.
He can't make the pain or paranoia go away but he can be there to hold your hand and reassure you when you need to hear it.
"My love, I know you're scared. I know you are afraid of the unknown and what's to come but that shouldn't stop you from living. Even if a health episode occurs and you have a bad day, I'll be there to help as soon as I can. You've done that for me a thousand times over I've tried to detox from the elixir... and I'll do the same for you no matter what you're going through. A cold or not, you deserve to be heard. Fear is something we all experience but letting it control you is stopping you from living life. We can't control our body, but we can control how we respond to it with time."
His hands won't leave yours for a second. "I don't say that to diminish your fears. One day, one of those fears could turn out to be true and I won't be the person to doubt the little boy who cried wolf. Even if it's nothing, you cried out for a reason and I will always listen. Everyone deserves to be heard."
anxiety is so fucking lame. i don’t even really panic anymore, now it just pisses me the hell off. even the order of the attack is predictable at this point.
I truly hate having anxiety, and if I could, I would get rid of mine in a heartbeat IF the totally fictional prospect didn't present me with another anxiety thought: if I terminate or treat it too well and let my guard down what if I then handwave or ignore an actual threat that harms me. This is probably not a realistic thought process, but it goes to show how anxiety can really warp people's thought process and make even the treatment of it dreadful
