there is no ethical way to consume jkr's works. pirating doesn't directly give her money but we need to stop giving her attention. in today's economic/political climate attention is money, and by keeping her works in the public eye you're proving that she's profitable and thus she gets free reign to remake everything until she gets all the rights and all of parliament under her thumb. find another little wizard world and obsess over that instead, its not hard to find one with better writing that doesn't directly contribute to transphobic legislature. simply pirating hp and saying "separate the art from the artist! terfs dni!!" does absolutely nothing except keep her relevant and profiting

Does anyone else think it’s just a GROSS how JKR made Moaning Myrtle is a transphobic allegory for trans women in girls bathroom?

Obviously, you can tell that Moaning Myrtle is a ghost, something commonly said to be scary, which is a r deference to how trans women are scary to JKR.

And also a ghost is commonly said to not be real, which is a reference to how JKR thinks trans women identity’s aren’t real either.

And then most importantly, she’s invading the girls bathroom, she’s always in there, bothering girls in there and harassing them. Just like JKR thinks trans women do. She even SEXUALLY HARRASSES Harry Potter himself while he’s in the bath, aka JKR things trans woman are sexual harassing child’s.

That’s so hypocritical of her, considering she was just outed as personally invited Jeffrey Epstein. No, I was not able to read the file due to ADHD and executive disinfection, yes I saw it on Tumblr and it’s real. It’s just disgusting.

You can also tell how she’s calling a sexual name MOANING Myrtle, which is a refernence to the sexual sound of moaning, so it’s because JKR is saying trans women are sexual predators, who’s presents in girls bathroom are because of sexual reasoning.

Overall, wow, it’s so wrong and it’s just gross. Every character in the books has a secret purpose of pushing JKR transphobia or other bigotry.

I really want to believe that. it gives me another reason to hate her and to convince people to stop associating with her. but I want to stay in the habit of fact checking and I cant find anything that mentions her from my searches? like i said I haven't really been following it so I might not be looking in the right places

JKR is now calling trans women “trans identified men” - while still somehow preaching about the ways that men police “femaleness.” JKR and her allies are the only ones who are allowed to gatekeep who and what counts as a woman, apparently. The hypocrisy here is multilayered - she rebukes someone who has a particular idea of what a woman is, and yet she herself has constructed a similarly limited idea of what a woman is - one that excludes trans women. But also - it’s not an accident that all the targets of this kind of transphobia (“protect women’s sport,” “protect women-only spaces,” “some trans women are abusers”) are trans women - not trans men. Under the guise of feminism, she denies the identities and rights of some of the most vulnerable and systemically oppressed women alive today. Trans women are women. To deny that because it doesn’t conform to your “sex-based” definition of womanhood - THAT is the very definition of misogyny.
