// if you consider trigger warnings to be spoilers, well small spoiler warning ig
Btw if you watch this episode, listen to me. LISTEN TO ME. Huge emetophobia warning towards the end. "Oh I'm fine with vomit" NO YOU DON'T UNDERSTAND. I WAS FINE TOO. IT'S ABOVE THAT. IF YOU HAVE A STOMACH IN YOUR BODY, TRIGGER WARNING
CW / TW list for people who are interested in seeing Iron Lung but have phobias/triggers!
I’ll try to list as many as I can remember, I only saw the movie once and I didn’t take notes. :’)
I’m a firm believer in supporting indie/small art and highly encourage anyone who wants to see the film to go see it in theaters! I’m also a proponent of informing yourself if you happen to be sensitive to certain content. :) I struggle a lot with viewing movies due to past trauma and want to help people if I can.
If you have ANY questions about the film please ask them below and/or DM me, I’ll try to help as best I can! 🩷 again, it’s a great film and I genuinely recommend it!
Very slight spoilers here; heavy spoilers will be marked under the break!
MINIMAL SPOILER/SPOILER FREE (as much as I can make it):
- Obviously lots of blood. Dripping, squirting, coagulating; it’s very visceral. It’s both in the environment and coming from people.
- Extended shots of graphic physical injury including hives, cuts, and welts.
- Multiple scenes of vomiting / spitting up liquid or blood. I believe there’s 2-3. I will add details below.
- Majority of scenes are very isolated and claustrophobic but there’s two scenes in particularly tight spaces.
- Two, as far as I remember, jumpscares. Neither are too jarring, but they are there.
- Multiple instances of breaks from reality, questioning reality, etc. this includes visual and auditory hallucinations.
- At least 1-2 shots of rapidly flashing lights. If you have a sensitivity to flashing lights, this might be an issue. They aren’t especially long or especially bright, but I did notice them.
- Multiple uses of a camera that flashes light then slowly dims.
- If you have a fear of the ocean/submechanophobia it might be triggered, there are multiple instances of knowing there’s something outside of the submarine.
- Unfrequent mentions of tumors/cancer, it’s not a main focus but it felt worth including.
- There is a pair of scissors in the film which made me a little anxious, but there are no instances of harm with them.
- minor/infrequent things, not sure if they’d bother anybody but I’ll include them just in case: a character drinks alcohol, characters curse often, religious themes, and instances of fires and explosions (one former and two latter from what I remember)
~~~*~*~*~*~* SPOILERS BELOW *~*~*~*~*~~~
I’m going to go into more detail on each point!
- Blood: The blood coagulates into a sort of living organism and grabs a character. The character struggles to free themselves, the scene is very tense. There’s also multiple instances of a character being silly submerged in blood, coughing up blood as mentioned, blood being smeared, dripping, flooding areas, coating objects, etc. it’s a very bloody movie.
- Injury / Gore: Graphic physical injury is, again, extended. A character is seen getting a very clear cut on their forehead. A character is also seen peeling dressings from their arms to reveal their arms have begun to decay as though acid is eating through them - they’re covered with graphic hives and welts, skin melting or missing, very bloody. The camera focuses on this for a while. There is also a scene toward the end where, after getting stuck in the coagulated blood, a character pries themselves free at the cost of their arm. They’re visibly shocked at the loss and it’s equally shocking for the audience. There’s no blood lost from this injury as they are covered enough by the coagulated blood.
- Vomiting: For the vomiting: there’s a “true” vomit scene after a character drinks alcohol iirc. It goes on for several seconds, under a minute if I had to guess. After a character is submerged in blood, they spit up the blood and I Believe they sort of vomit it up. A character also coughs blood into their palm at least once.
- Tight spaces: Almost the entire film takes place inside of a small room with no visible exit or windows. There is one scene of a character entering and navigating a crawl space. Later on they enter the same crawl space, but it’s flooding with blood and they have to move quickly or risk drowning. Very tense and uncomfortable.
- Jumpscares: From what I remember there are only two. One when a character looks over their shoulder to see a figure nearby, and another where a character rounds a corner to see a humanoid creature that appears very monstrous. I would consider them minor. The “stinger” sound effect that comes with them was very minimal from what I remember - I’d consider many of Markiplier’s horror lets plays more intense in this way.
- Breaks from reality: This is present throughout. A character hallucinates voices, objects, and other persons. There are multiple scenes of the character realizing something was a hallucination and being distressed about it, asking others to confirm their authenticity, and growing increasingly agitated. There also multiple instances of audio being overlayed in such a way that is difficult to hear/discern each individual voice. ALSO, there’s whispering in the background of the film I thought was coming from people around me, but it’s within the film.
- Rapid lights: fairly self explanatory. There’s one closeup shot in particular I remember showing an alarm light flashing for several seconds, but there may be more.
- Camera: The camera used within the film causes a bright white flash that fades over the course of a few seconds. There are scenes of it being used once or twice, and other scenes of it being used repeatedly.
- Fear of the ocean: Multiple instances of disturbing, large sea creatures menacing a character. They appear to be fishlike. Some simply exit nearby, others actively attack. There are scenes that show the attacks aftermath, show active attacks without showing the creature themselves, and show attacks while showing the creature. The camera captures photos of creatures, skeletons, broken ships, and strange objects in the dark sea which could trigger submechanophobia or thalassophobia.
- Cancer mentions: Characters mention radiation and being impacted by it multiple times. One character mentions having tumors.
- Scissors: Merely appear. Characters make little use of them. A character intends to use them for self defense but doesn’t need to. No characters end up cutting themselves on the scissors from what I remember, intentionally or not.
- Infrequent things: A character drinks alcohol from a medial kit. Multiple characters curse multiple times, mostly f-ck. There are some religious themes including “knowing the truth” and other similar tropes, the portrayal of these things feels cultish and unsettling. There are vague mentions of gods. There is no overt discussion from what I remember of gods/“God”/a true religion in specifics. At one point, a fire starts and is quickly put out. An explosion occurs in a flashback and in the ocean.
There is NO mention of sexual assault from that I remember. No choking or asphyxiation from what I remember, beyond the scene of a character nearly drowning. No children or animals are harmed except for a very large fish getting a broken tooth and exploded later on. Mariplier is thrown around like a ragdoll. And yes, he does take his shirt off. /lh
ALSO just wanted to add some stuff, I was the one who submitted both Togata from Fire Punch and Tetsuo from Yuureitou, but both of these pieces deal with heavy subject matter so I thot it'd be best to give some trigger warnings! I would highly recommend both of these if you are comfortable with these subject matter though as both are amazing stories (especially Fire Punch)
Fire Punch:
Sexual Abuse
Zoophilia
Pedophilia
Incest
A LOT of gore
A LOT of nudity
Sexual jokes
Yuureitou:
Suicide
A lot of gore
A lot of nudity
Sexual themes
Thank you for this! Posting it so people are aware!
I watched all of the new Arcane series last night, and it was BEAUTIFUL. But, I haven’t seen a list of trigger warnings for the content yet, and I feel that it is important to put out. If there’s anything I’ve left out or incorrectly associated with an episode, please let me know! Spoilers are off for this.
As for the list:
the use of the word cr*pple (ep 2)
a s/uicide attempt (ep 2)
multiple on and off screen character deaths/corpses (I will note that they aren't shown with excessive blood, but it's still present) (all eps)
eye horror (ep 2/3)
panic attacks/mental breakdown (ep 3)
eye contact (might be more of a me thing since I'm a scopophobe, but ep 2)
01. this is a dark content blog. that means it's centered around things like yandere, obsessive/possessive behavior, non-con, drugs, violence, death, etc. (full warning list below). i do write much softer things than other, similar blogs, but there are still dark and twisted aspects, so please be aware of that when you read any of my work.
02. my main content will be from tokyo revengers, jujutsu kaisen, blue lock, and bungo stray dogs; however, that is subject to change, be it i add or remove fandoms.
03. my blog won't be spoiler free for any of the fandoms that i write for. of course, i’ll include the necessary warnings before the actual content, but remember to keep this in mind in case you don’t read warnings.
04. i highly advise for minors not to interact with my blog. i know i can't exactly stop any of you, but if you choose to read my stuff don't come into my inbox and complain that it made you uncomfortable. the warnings are there for a reason, and i’ve also explicitly stated not to come on my blog if you’re a minor, therefore it is not my fault if you are uncomfortable.
— tw. list : yandere, obsessive/possessive behavior, kidnapping, stalking, drug usage/aphrodisiacs, smut, non-con/cnc, stalkholm syndrome, violence and death, suicide, graphic descriptions, a.b.o., manipulation and emotional abuse, forced relationships, unhealthy relationships, blackmail, traumatic events, bullying, gangs/mafia.
Hi, it seems like quite a number of people are getting into 80s horror nowadays and films like Re-Animator are starting to gain a lot more attention!
I personally really like this movie and wanted to recommend it to my friends, but I compiled this list before they actually saw it. As I made the list, I realized that a movie like this might not be a good idea for those just beginning to get into horror/slashers.
This list has a few spoilers so keep reading at your own expense.
