From most of what I’ve read lately, the Moderna vaccine keeps its efficacy around 95% for about a year, then is still around 75%. I’ve had it my head that the year mark is when I should start thinking about a booster, which would be late March/mid April of 2022.
I was at my [healthcare bigwig] neighbor’s last weekend, catching up, chatting about Covid vaccines, etc, and she absolutely recommended I get boosted as soon as I’m eligible, which honestly kind of surprised me, even though it probably shouldn’t have.
I do not want to. At all. I don’t want to give up a weekend feeling sick, I don’t want to rearrange my week to allow for reaction time. Everything I’ve heard/read says your booster side effects are close to your second shot side effects, which SUCKED. Not enough time has passed for me to forget how actually sucky it was!
Don’t get me wrong, I’m absolutely going to do it. But I am going to dread every second thinking about it until it’s over. And I know it’s a privilege to have a readily available supply of free vaccines, and two days of down time is so much better than actually getting Covid, and and blah blah blah yadda yadda I’m still gonna be grouchy about it for a minute.
