Today's one of those days where I allow myself to just cry about how unfair the US healthcare system is. Even medicaid. It's disgusting. Imagine how many ER visits they wouldn't have to pay for if they just listened and approved what the fucking doctors prescribed.
I'm gonna start thinking that public assistance programs are just data mining for your information with the amount they demand before they'll even help you.
And I used to help ppl apply for public assistance. But it's fucking ridiculous.
Hello give us your two last months income plus your social security numbers plus your phone numbers, your address, your bills, your rent, do you own or rent, your education, your demographics, every piece of information for every person in your household, pictures of your ID's, AND every other piece of contact information. Oh yeah also-do you eat your pickles sweet or dill?
What's all this for? Public energy assistance to pay for one $200 bill.
The other day I saw a comment on a Tiktok talking about how someone couldn't afford their insulin. And ppl were like, it's $35 now you should have no trouble.
IT SHOULD BE FREE. they need it to LIVE. This pisses me off to no end. Sometimes one of my meds isn't free (I have Medicaid) and my partner pays it and I'm like that was $20 that could have gone to food! But obviously we're like but you need it though.
Jfc this is why we need universal healthcare. It shouldn't matter what the price is because there SHOULD BE NO PRICE. Ever. For any reason.
Yeah I don't trust any of these hantavirus ppl that AREN'T QUARANTINING. I'm in Oregon, US and there's currently an UNDISCLOSED and UNKNOWN amount of ppl from the hantavirus cruise ship that flew back to California.

A British national literally escaped the ship at some point and they don't know where he is. He could be anywhere. These people that have been exposed are going back to multiple states and multiple countries. I don't even know much about epidemiology and this sounds like the blueprint for a pandemic. Not to mention this virus has an incubation period of 8 WEEKS.

Called the food bank assistance line for ppl with disabilities where they deliver the food to your house cause it would take me the whole day and three bus transfers to get to the food bank and back, and we're both disabled and can't drive.
We had applied for SNAP in the past and we were 'eligible' but for $0 🤪 yes it makes no sense.
So to cut our grocery bill we need to supplement. This is a reminder to myself and others that these programs are out there for a reason. To help. Use them when you need them and feel no shame about it. You deserve food and shelter and healthcare.

I'm SORRY. Just because an event isn't direct action where you're prepared to get arrested or killed, doesn't mean its not WORTH DOING. Gods im so livid. This is a community event in front of the library, where we were told to bring signs, air grievance to city officials, do networking and community building for our local community and officials to trust, and distribute information on ICE and what to say if they're around, and handing out whistles to alert neighbors when they eventually do show up.
NONE OF THAT isn't worth doing. Not to mention that this is an event geared toward families and disabled folks!!! Those who CANNOT DO DIRECT ACTION. JFC if we limit our protests to only direct action, all the revolutionaries are going to be fucking dead.
I'm being dramatic, but we already have a fucking problem with organization here in the US. Don't fucking make it worse by excluding what people are actually able to do.
My exercise specialist today was nonbinary like me but after we bonded over being nonbinary, we hit a stalemate in the conversation. Neither of us wanted to dig into politics and we both agreed that it's a LOT rn.
