Been feeling so much stronger with my upper/lower body workouts only to get fully humbled by an ab routine 😭
Exercised two days in a row, guys!
Weigh the most I ever have. Eating a lot. Powerlifting 3x a week. Healthy blood pressure for the first time in my adult life.
Medicine knows nothing. Let me grow my big beautiful horse muscles in peace.
Look at Dominik. I’m done. 😹
You Spin Me Right Round, Baby
For his 55th birthday the previous year, Billy had bought himself a Peloton. While he was still pretty fit from the weights he lifted and the walks he and Steve took with their dogs in the evenings, he had definitely become significantly softer around the middle in recent years and wanted to work some of the weight off. It turns out that he hated it. More than anything. He had no interest in the spin classes and he would routinely set alarms to get rides in before work, then turn them off and fall back asleep. When he did get himself onto it, he struggled to keep up with the instructors suggested cadence and resistance ranges. Steve, meanwhile, was in love with it. He had favourite instructors and would talk to Billy about them like they were his friends. He was taking every kind of class that was offered, and had shed 20 pounds and packed on some muscle. Suddenly, it wasn’t Billy that was getting second glances when they were out for date nights. Steve would tease Billy about paying so much for a piece of equipment that he never touched, so he decided to try it again in secret, so Steve wouldn’t know if he gave up again. He was determined to make himself love it. If Steve could, so could he. He set an alarm for 5am, and laid out his clothes and towel the night before. When his alarm sounded, up he went. He clipped into the bike, picked a class, and got going. Within minutes, he was dripping in sweat, struggling to keep up with even the most basic speed increases. He kept trying, but god, it was awful. 20 minutes later, as he was about 2/3 of the way through his class, Steve entered the spare room with his workout gear on, water bottle in hand. He had a surprised look on his face when he saw Billy on the bike, huffing and puffing away, shoulders hunched, cursing at the instructor. Billy whipped his head around, a grimace on his face and a blush rising on his cheeks. “Hey babe, do you need the bike soon? I’m almost…” He was wheezing so hard he could barely get the words out. Steve approached him, a look of concern on his face. “Baby, you’re doing an advanced class. Are you sure you’re ok to finish it? Why’d you pick something so tough?” Billy was so embarrassed at being caught. “Well, I thought if I did all the advanced classes, I’d catch up with you faster.” Steve looked confused. “Catch up with me?” Billy gestured to Steve’s toned body. “Yeah. Look at you. You’re hot as fuck. Those abs, that ass, those arms. I’m ashamed to look at my own body next to you.” Steve leaned over and paused the class. He slid his hand up and under Billy’s shirt, one hand pulling it off, while the other rubbed along his belly. Once Billy’s shirt was off, he leaned down and kissed his belly and his pecs. “Look at you, babe. Talk about sexy as fuck. You’re my teddy bear. I love it.” He moved his hands up to Billy’s arms. “Look at these arms. Big and strong. You can pick me up like it’s nothing. My mountain.” Billy was blushing at the compliments. Even after 35 years together, it still felt good to have Steve tell him he was hot. Steve kept going, moving his hands to Billy’s thighs, which were encased in little bike shorts. “Get off the bike, baby. We can come back to this later. I want to get my mouth on those juicy thighs.” Billy unclipped faster than he ever had before, almost falling of the bike in his haste to get off of it and back to their bedroom. He met Steve there, slapping the other man’s ass, revelling in the jiggle. They spent the morning in bed before returning to the bike. Steve helped him with the settings and finding a beginner class with music that he liked. He was so proud of Billy a week later when he entered the room, and there was the other man, riding away with a big grin on his face. “Look, Princess. I’m the fastest!” He looked so proud that Steve refrained from pointing out that he was only racing against two other people, two 80 year old men. He sat in the rocking chair in the corner, cheering Billy on.
Im deeply off put by the culture around exercise that seems to think that the only reason you’d exercise is to “look fit” or lose weight. What about those of us who want to exercise so we can climb mountains to hang glide or freerun cause it’s beautiful but need to build up strength to do that?
what about those of us who thought gym was a waste in school but really could’ve used actual education around how to exercise so you don’t hurt yourself? What things to do to help you achieve the life you want?
i know education is broken but I’m just… frustrated.
Thanks for making me cry, peloton instructor.
It’s Friday. I want to hear some good news, how about you?

I’ll start: Over the last few years I have avoided going on meds for my anxiety/depression. It’s a personal decision (medication freaks me out). But it became clear last year that I needed something to help treat it beyond therapy.
I found out that working out 4-5 times a week really helped me a lot. It’s become a part of my treatment plan (not forced, of course). It isn’t a fix-all but it kept me grounded and let me do something that I could see results in. I never had a goal because it was never about being physically fit, it was about helping my mental health. That being said...
This bitch just hip thrust 300lbs 💪🏼
