I love seeing how Mishka puts together the Echolian language! And here we have another example - so far we've only had words but now, someone is speaking Echolian in full! Although, a quick fact from Mishka, Echolian is not supposed to sound like separate words when you speak it, more like one smooth sound!

And for those that like to dig further into the language - here are the pronunciations:

Is Mishka a secret linguist? Maybe!

I've been reading some of the asks and had a quick thought. Sorry if you've answered before! I know there aren't any humans left in the Echo World but are there turned supernaturals who were once human left there?

First of all, I'm a huge fan of your work. Your writing is just *superb*. (Btw, I don't even know of this is the right place to make an ask, I'm still new to actually interacting with these things lmao.)

Since I started reading it, I've been fascinated with your idea of various supernaturals, especially their abilities and their behavior. Now, the supernaturals I know of are vampires, demons, werewolves, fairies, annunaki, maa-alused, I believe imps have been mentioned, gargoyles and gorgons, and that's all I can remember.

Now, my actual question is what other supernatural races are there? Specifically, really rare ones. I was also hoping you could tell me if specter-like supernaturals exist (like ones that aren't ghosts but have ghost-like abilities). If so, what are they called and what can they do?

(Btw sorry if this is too long an ask, I tend to get off track a lot 😁)

Oh my word! You don't want to get me started on this topic as I have A LOT of lore that I can't get into the books that I adore and could chat about for hours, hehe! :D

Ghosts and spirits definitely exist, but the two are very different. One is a remnant of memory created by magic on one's passing, the other is an actual type of supernatural.

Li-Sar being a Y'uli'sed is one of the Echo World original supernaturals that I've been so excited to bring in.

I have always loved the old myths and legends of creatures, and it's been exciting bringing them in and adding a twist to the old tales for Wayhaven. But I'm finally getting to bring in some of the supernaturals I've been working on for, well, decades, even if in small cameos, hehe!

So yeah, it would be difficult to answer your questions as there are soooo many! :D

Hi Sera! I have a lore trivia question, and I couldn't find an answer via search, so I hope you don't mind my clogging up your inbox 😅 I was wondering, are there any superstitions about humans in the Echo World, in the same vein as garlic or silver for vampires? Or maybe a human Dracula figure? Is there a human version of Twilight? Lol

Also, did humans used to exist in the Echo World, and were simply hunted to extinction? A response of yours while I was searching had me curious.

There are…myths about humans, yes, for sure!

The stories are mostly based on where they went and the popular 'there's humans living in the abandoned places that only a few see' kind of urban legends, hehe!

They weren't hunted to extinction, it was a much more magical reason for their non-existence in the Echo World now!

Sera! Sera! Sera! I have an urgent argument-related question! Do hive-mind species of supernatural exist in Wayhaven universe?! Also - you're fantastic writer!

Yes, they do exist but they are rare and mostly stick to the Echo World.

The couple of times a supernatural of that type has passed into our world through the portal has…not ended well! Being split from that 'communal mind space' really rips a part of them away, and it's often too much of a struggle to adjust!

hi! Huge fan of the series!! was wondering, how's UB with pets- especially with some of the more "far-out" pets, like spiders or snakes? How are they with an MC with pets?

Considering some of the supernatural creatures they've dealt with, snakes and spiders aren't that much a huge deal for them, hehe! :D

For M and A, pets don't actually register as something to pay attention to.

N has more interest if it's a cuddly-type pet.

F treats animals in the same way they treat everyone else, because in the Echo World animals have more magic in them and can communicate in a way and that's what F grew up with. So a pet would be more like a roommate than a pet for F (obviously not influenced at all by my intense love of animals and treating them on par with humans, hehe! ;D)
