I’m disgusted of the implications 11x14 has set into play when it comes to Maggie and Negan.

The writers are convinced that they’ve “redeemed” Negan with pathetic lackluster plots of him “bonding” with children. These kids have no idea what he did because they weren’t there to first hand witness it. They’ve only heard the redacted stories, if anything at all.

So many people died for that stupid ass war it boils my skin every time I see them trying to make Negan good or say he’s repenting for his sins or some bs.

He straight up told Maggie he wished he killed everyone in that line up. He left her for dead in the subway. And I get it “he didn’t kill Aaron or Gabe when he had the chance” you’re right, he didn’t. So perhaps that’s a more challenging redemption arc where they ACTUALLY ADDRESS WHAT HE DID. About Eric dying for a war that at this point felt pointless completely and the fact that Aaron only has a daughter because of the very same war. It’s a complex conversation not a one side convo of an old man talking down to a kid. And yeah he and Michonne had some sort of arrangement where Negan got the base necessities to live in the cell and he would never be allowed out. They were portraying some stuff but they weren’t addressing it.

Then Carol let him out for the Whispers and instead of risking his own life and taking them out first sight, he waited, he aided in the downfall of Hilltop and thus Alexandria, putting everyone in the position they currently are in. He and Rick broke the communities apart and when he had a chance of perhaps saving them from being destroyed, he didn’t do anything but watch.

And now the writers have the audacity to have him say to Hershel that when he’s older they can have a talk about what happened. No. No. No. I’m disgusted. Negan’s wife (sure) said he would do anything for Hershel, but guess what writers THAT MAN ALREADY EXISTED AND WAS KILLED. Negan took Glenn away from him and now they’re trying to make some weird ass relationship happen and I’m revolted. I’m beyond disgusted because Hershel doesn’t deserve that. He deserves to have Glenn there. Judith shouldn’t have to forget the voices of her brother and father. And let’s not forget all the other people who died during the War or leading up to it. And then the ones who survived and genuinely turned themselves around only to die in ANOTHER STUPID ASS WAR.

It’s gotten to the point where the writers and everyone on the project knows that if they even address what ACTUALLY FUCKING HAPPEN they’re going to open a big can of worms that they can’t close and then we’re gonna get to the whole Satellite Outpost discourse again and it’s tiring. It makes me so angry at the stories they are clearly picking and choosing to tell. With the whole Satellite Outpost thing, if you wanted us to care and be like “hmm, this is wrong” perhaps they should’ve taken the time to tell us someone’s POV like they did for Dwight and Sherry. People started liking Laura because we started to see there were more layers to her and we were uncovering the person behind the label of “Savior.” It’s like when the gang went to save Maggie and Glenn in Woodbury, we had already seen Woodbury’s POV for quite awhile now so we understood that to the civilians this seemed like an attack but we also knew it was a rescue mission and their leader was a manipulative liar so…

Negan’s wives to this date angers me. The majority of the Saviors introductions is with a group of strong looking men. The motorcycle gang on the road, the group that haunted Dwight and Sherry, the roadblock brigades, and of course the clearing. And when we see inside the sanctuary a lot of its army is men with three women in charge: Laura, Arat, and the one woman Carol burns alive. That’s about it. The place where we see women next is as workers in the Sanctuary and of course the small group that took Maggie and Carol hostage. And majority of these women have terrible stories. The woman who lost her child, the one woman who smoked and was slowly dying, the redhead who was abused, Laura who was a nomadic care unit was attacked and almost killed. It’s like no woman who is in the army or a worker has a good story. And that includes Negan’s wives, because that’s EXACTLY how he picked. Amber, whose mom couldn’t work and who had a boyfriend she loved and cared about but got his face burned for talking to her, Sherry’s story is one of the most told of any of the wives because we already knew her character. But the aftermath, her trauma displayed on FearTWD, the fact that once the suicide pills were no longer a plot, Frankie, Tanya, and Amber became obsolete and Frankie was one of the pikes from the Whisper War but we never got to know her as anyone other than one of Negan’s wives. The fact that even lately, they’ve used the whole Maggie vs Negan but for like 3 seasons now to make Maggie into this villain who’s trying to “undo” all the good Negan’s done. It pisses me off because they know JDM is a money maker for them, and they’re using it. They’re no longer telling consistent stories, they’re telling the most dramatic ones that keeps people watching. And I’m tired of seeing the same conflict over and over, season after season.

I said it before on other posts, this show has a problem with showcasing strong females because their idea of “strong” is a women who has to overcome trauma or grief or become an emotionless badass. That’s why Carol’s weird arc in S6-7 felt so out of the blue. It’s why everyone said Beth was weak, because she wasn’t out here killing walkers and taking charge like everyone else was, and how they address her suicide attempt still angers me because they deadass wrote it in an episode as a point of weakness and Beth had to explain herself. Michonne, Maggie, and so many other women have gone through a tragedy and are now the strongest women capable of anything. But everyone single woman has gone through something. And the only one who sorta boycotts this is Connie because they don’t showcase her hearing loss as a downfall or something she’s had to overcome, and the only reason they had her get lost in the horde was so Lauren could film Eternals and I think that’s why she’s such a breath of fresh air. When the writers had a chance to establish Yumiko and Magna’s stories they could’ve done anything (and don’t be like “they got it from the source material” because is Carl’s death source material? Is Daryl??) they gave them a relationship that was built on a power dynamic of Lawyer and Client and the client (Magna) killed the guy who attacked her niece. Again. No happiness. And ANDREA. Andrea was a device an EP used to grieve his own mother and the fandom looks at Andrea as this bitchy weak woman who couldn’t even kill one walker and it’s not her fault the ones creating her character where clearly taking their problems of real life out on her fictional existence.

But yet when it comes to the men, like Negan, they will bend their backs so far until they break and then even more to display his story on screen to get as many people to like him AFTER he’s already committed these acts and say he’s a good person. This story of the walking dead, it lost being about good people vs bad people a long time ago. It WAS about family and the lengths you’d go for them. But then that died when Rick spared Negan. And now they’re bringing back good vs bad when they really can’t do it with adults so they’re doing it through the children and that’s why I’m not falling for their lazy ass writing of redemption arcs for the character who as they once called him the biggest villain we’ve faced.

And before some of y’all come for me, I, to this day, believe that the Governor and his arc and character were genuinely a better and bigger villain than Negan because the Governor was more fleshed out and Woodbury was portrayed properly and he was a genuinely twisted guy. Negan’s childish, misogynistic villainy cardboard character is just a character with motivations and actions I can’t understand to this day because they never showed him as a leader (which is what he was supposed to be) instead they portrayed him as a husband (with Lucille and his wives and even now). Even time when Negan gets a chance to talk about his loss, it’s never about his Saviors, if it is it’s to appeal to Rick and CO’s nature, but from him personally it’s all about Lucille and that’s just another reason I don’t buy his bs because when Frankie became irrelevant to the plot since she was no longer trying to kill Negan they didn’t have Negan express his remorse for one of his wives when she died—that’s if he ever knew, and it’s exactly the same way once Death Baby Adam was no longer relevant we haven’t had a single episode where that baby’s been heard of or seen. Convenient.

The Walking Dead 11x14 spoilers

I just watched the episode 11x14. Okay...

Gonna tag @thewalkingdead-imagines because I really wanna read your thoughts about it all! Read this post (if you want) after watching episode 14.

• I take back what I said about the timeline. In a second analysis , it's entirely possible.

Why? Because: A month has passed between the episode that Negan leaves and the episode that some of the characters are living in the Commonwealth. (Ep. 9 - 1 month - Ep. 10)

In Episode 10, Tyler Davis, the former soldier, is arrested for the fuss he made at the masquerade ball. In Episode 11, Kelly and Connie are investigating the Commonwealth military and Tyler's treatment. And they have a conversation with Mercer in the woods, and Kelly mentions that Tyler has been in the hospital for a month under armed guard, so... (Ep. 10 - 1 month - Ep. 11)

The teaser trailer for episode 15 shows Daryl arriving at the gates of the Hilltop, as shown in the 6 month flash forward. So there's no denying that by episode 15, six months have passed since Negan left and almost 3 or more until episode 14, so... It's his child, and most of us are stupid assholes that don't pay attention 🤌🏻 One problem solved. (and I mean some of us, 'cause man, we're so inattentive

• I liked Annie, this episode shows a little more of her, despite everything being around Negan, which is kind of shit. Hopefully in the next few episodes we can find out more about Annie as a individual, not Annie as just Negan's wife. She demonstrates leadership traits, she is a strong and firm woman, understanding and definitely Negan respects her VERY MUCH.

• Negan is a sad puppy in this episode and in every scene I felt like giving him a hug. But I guess that's to be expected considering it's the first conversation he's had with Hershel Jr, and the kid points a gun in his face. Negan always liked kids, he always had a certain kind of protectiveness, and seeing a 7 year old point a gun in his face, with an urge to kill him because he killed the boy's father weighed heavily on him, and still more knowing that Annie is carrying his child, it was a good analogy of when he killed Glenn, he felt what he caused with great force in that scene and he held himself very hard not to cry. (Jeffrey's subtle acting in those moments was spectacular).

• One thing I DEFINITELY didn't like at all. Lydia's reunion with Negan... Man, what the fuck was that? Like, Lydia says he left without saying a word, clearly sad, and Negan responds by saying that he left because he didn't give a shit and that's what everyone wanted. Like?? Really?? Are you really going to say he didn't care about her? Because she felt it man. Seriously, my heart broke for her when he said that. A disappointment man! Why did they build such a nice relationship between the two of them for him to say that shit to her face later? And she was the only one who cared for him, who missed him when he left. They shit on it hard.

• Lauren's acting was also great. We can see the deep conflict, the worry, the fear on her face during the conversation with Annie and when she finds out that Negan is taking care of Hershel. She's trying to process all the danger and tension they're going through, the reunion with Negan, the revelations about his life and Hershel's whereabouts along with Negan. It's too much for her and yet she's still going strong. I'm so sorry that Maggie has to relive all of this now that Hershel knows. You can see in her face how much the revelation that Annie's baby is Negan's hit her hard. I really want to see what happens in the next few episodes regarding this situation between these four characters.

•About Negan and Annie's relationship. I still think it was something all of a sudden that's just going to be a tool to make the plot work, which is a shame because I can really see Negan really liking Annie, I think she would be the type of woman for him. I really wish they had shown all the building of this relationship, because it's been more than 3 months or so, they've managed to get to know each other at least a little bit, it's still a short time, considering it's a fucking zombie apocalypse and you can't go around trusting everyone that fast, whether you've had sex with them or not. And I don't think Negan would be the type of guy to jump isto such a serious relationship, considering everything he's been through with Lucille, or rather what he's lost with her and everything else he's lived through until he gets to this point. If they had introduced her a few seasons earlier or built it right, this relationship would have been pretty good. If it was something the writers really wanted to keep through the season. Because the actress who plays Annie was not seen in any episodes filmed later in the season, not with other actors and not with Jeffrey, so I don't think she's gonna survive, and honestly, there's no reason to introduce a brand new relationship in the last fucking season of the show!

!!!TWD 11x14 SPOILERS!!!

my take on the latest episodes of twd:

!!! heavy spoilers for twd 11x14 ahead !!!

before i get started, sorry for being inactive, i got caught up in school stuff and then got covid on friday. doing a lot better now though. rlly missed doing this :)

its been a while since i’ve done one of these, mainly due to the fact that i didn’t actually watch the latest three episodes until today. but now i’ve had lots of free time to catch up. i did consider making individual posts for each episode but decided against it as i’ve found myself not as interested in these episodes compared to the first couple of 11b, so take this post as a general take rather than strictly for 11x14.

anyways, enough about me, let’s discuss

i’m not too sure if it’s just me, but i’ve found myself a lot less interested in 11b compared to when the trailers were released, not because it’s boring (imo it’s been excellent so far) but because it’s missing something. i couldn’t quite put my finger on it, but i came to the conclusion that it’s because of how wide-spread everything is becoming. i feel as though all the characters are becoming absurdly distant and hard to keep up with, especially with all the side characters there are nowadays, and although relevant to the plot it still annoyed me, that was until i realised it was all intentional.

what has happened every other time like this? although this example is miniscule in comparison, remember when the prison group took in the woodbury citizens? it was short-lived, and made the characters quite hard to keep up with for a little, but it was all relevant. 

we then saw the governers final attack, which took out the filler characters and left the core group closer than ever. the plot needed that “wow factor” to give the group another reason to trust each other like family. imagine if the governer had attacked in a circumstance where they hadn’t taken in extras and it was just the core group to begin with, there’s multiple flaws:

1. it wouldn’t have set up for the realistic amount of character deaths, ultimately leaving a mc to die, which in turn sets up for an unnecessary grief period

2. the core group’s main bond is over the fact that even though they’ve come from many different periods in the plot, all from different backgrounds, they all survived. they’ve survived against all odds, even though almost everyone else they’ve been with haven’t made it. not having those filler characters die to accentuate the fact doesn’t bring in the same sentiment.

you get the point

i’m currently under the impression that we are going to see history repeat itself one final time in this regard. the characters being distant right now is still very frustrating, but it keeps me hopeful for what’s to come. (especially about how big that event that brings them back must be, they’re more distant than we’ve ever seen, and former repercussions of that have been massive, what could be in store this time??)

at the moment though i do dearly miss the closeness of the characters that we saw in moments such as the lead up to terminus where there was only a core group of characters with no side pieces to distract them.

in terms of 11x14:

(fore-warning most of this is about negan lmfao, absolutely in love with him atm) point 1 OMG THE LYDIA  AND NEGAN REUNION!!! almost had me in tears “hey kiddo” fdosjdfds WITH THE HEAD MOVEMENT TOO, enough to make a grown man cry :’) point 2 i really liked the scene between annie and maggie, annie was saying everything the viewers wanted to say. i truly do believe that negan has changed, and what she said has really confirmed to me that he is a different person canonically. it was also really refreshing to see someone actually tell maggie that she can’t hold onto who negan was forever. i understand her pain, and i do understand that she shouldn’t have to forgive just because negan wants to, but it’s dragging on too far. maggie needs to realise that she’s just as wrong as negan has been.

i think maggie has finally realised that she’s holding a grudge against a changed man. negan has so much loyalty to her that is completely disregarded. maggie’s reaction to negan telling her that “it’d have to happen to me first” before he would let hershel get hurt was really heartwarming as well, it was like a switch just flicked.

point 3 sebastian can die.

point 4 “are you a bad man?” “i was” THE WHOLE SCENE MAN, SO AWESOME negans monologue was really reminiscent as well, what he said about just because he might deserve to die for being a bad man doesn’t mean that everyone else deserves to die (because if hershel killed him they would all be found out and killed) really hit hard. it reminded me of the line up, negan killed glenn (ik abe died to but this is about glenn) because he was associated with who he thought to be the “bad man in charge” which wasn’t right. further proving my point that negan is a changed man.

point 5 daryl and rosita man. so wholesome how much they’re willing to give up for their kids. i hope daryl kills sebastian.

i knew from the second guns started firing that it was mercer, which was relieving because i knew he would understand what was going on. i also loved how daryl didn’t even have to defend himself when mercer told him he was under the impression they were stealing money. man, mercer didn’t even believe what he was saying lmfao

point 6 “it’s that goddamn priest again” captured absolutely everyone’s reaction to a tee, in a good way though. when the guy (forgot his name lol) said that, i was celebrating behind the screen because i knew gabe and aaron were about to pull some epic shit. aaron got me so happy though. i was celebrating so hard when elijah came out with his weapon and again when aaron shot the bitch off the roof. amazing scene visually.

point 7 i was going to go on about how carol’s back on her badass era shit, but then hornsby pulled out the walkie and i figured that he knows.

however, i still want to believe that carol is 10 steps ahead and ready to serve him some cookies. also that look she gave when she turned away?? actually terrifying. i hope hornsby’s ready to look at the flowers.

point 8 negan with kids. i really appreciate the way negan interacts with the kids, it’s the gym teacher coming out in him. we saw it with judith, we saw it with lydia, and now hershel. it’s really refreshing to see him treat them as equals, like when he got down on his knees to be at hershels level, or when he said to judith “i like to swear in front of my friends”

i’m a little confused on where hershel stands with negan now though, especially after the last scene where he death-stared him. point 9 for the love of god i’m done with leah.

now let’s talk predictions/questions:

- april (the woman in the office) was connected to tyler davis. reddit user u/mistertrouble189 pointed out that in the promo for 11x15, the name on the sheet of paper (the one from a few episodes ago with all the names of people connected to tyler) changed from april kelly in the original episode to april marten in the promo. take that how you will - stephanie. i called it. i deadass called it straight up in my 11x09 analysis.

- where are the others? the only downside to 11b so far has been the distance between characters. i just wanna know where characters like gracie, princess, jude’s friend, and connie and kelly are and what they’re doing. and luke! we saw oceanside but no luke, it’s so confusing

- one of my original predictions was hershel jr being in some kind of danger, and i am now being led to believe that him being hurt/kidnapped will be the premise of the negan and maggie spin off.

- i also predicted aaron’s death, and a lot of people are saying that he’s going to take rick’s comic death, which i can definitely see happening

-death predictions include:

1. gabriel i feel like his story is over. if he dies i don’t think i’ll even care that much (plot-wise, emotionally i’ll be destroyed, i love gabe sm)

2. mercer (maybe idk) with him it’s a 50/50, they’ll either leave him to live, or kill him to send a message that not standing out for the wrong will get you killed. we’re already seeing this a bit, with daryl standing up for himself in front of seb, but mercer still giving him the money

3. aaron will prolly get rick’s comic death

4. NOT rosita will be crushed if she dies, but they are setting her up as a “main” main character this season, i have hope for her.

5. sebastian i don’t care how he dies, but i need him dead.

6 months later scene

i’m beginning to see how it’s all supposed to seem at the hilltop scene. the way i see it, daryl, rosita, and co are oblivious to the outside corruption in the commonwealth, whereas aaron, gabe, maggie, etc are oblivious to the inside corruption in the commonwealth. it all adds up for a midseason finale that leaves the audience conflicted as to who’s the good people, because everyone is in the right, just unknowing to some things. i’m open to any ideas you guys have

My thoughts during and after 11x14, not in chronological order.

(Spoilers.)

Huh, haven’t seen that “this show is rated TV-MA for violence, etc.” in a few episodes, I wonder what’s in this that—oh, that’s why. Oh, that too. Seriously, the thump of the CIA agent hitting the ground and how he went out was brutal. In a good, TWD way. Good on Aaron for not letting that generic-brand Ewan McGregor monologue.

I like Annie and her group. I know new groups getting crammed into a final season seems like a bad thing but like Maggie says, she’s come across a lot of groups over the years. I like seeing smaller pockets of survivors that are only around for an episode or two.

Hershel pulling a gun on Negan—didn’t see that one coming. Good way to show Negan having actual remorse about Glenn. Him telling Hershel to see him in a few years and they’ll settle things makes me think about Carl visiting Negan in the comics. Can see a similar thing happening here.

I like how what Annie says to Maggie (can’t remember word for word) about how they’ve all done wrong seems to stick. I know Maggie got shit from the viewers for giving Negan shit about things and then going and doing nearly the same thing (like not helping the kid in the train car, after she’s mad at him for not helping her up), but I think what Annie says helps that weird characterization come full circle.

The little shit Sebastian continues to be a little shit. Said “oh shit no” when he brought up the kids. Though, I kind of like how it’s a sly misdirect: you think he’s about to threaten them when he was really about to offer to make their lives easier. I don’t blame Daryl for pulling a knife and thinking the worst, I did too, and for all we know Little-shit-ian was lying about not threatening anyone. He hasn’t had to really survive though, doubt he’s killed, so it kinda shows another difference between the sheltered “survivors” and ours.

“It’s a date.” In real time I thought ah, the Caryl fans are going to go rabid. I’m either/or on them getting together. I prefer my non-canon m/m but as for canon, Caryl or Donnie.

Headcanon for Daryl’s pick of donut pre-apocalypse: powdered jelly or apple fritter, something messy. Any Georgia-specific types I might not know about that could fit?

So Mercer’s probably the head of the resistance by helping Daryl and Rosita and popping Grunt 1 and 2 to hide the money?

Suspect that six months later scene from earlier has something to do with Annie’s group. Maggie houses them, Discount Rob Lowe Thornsby finds out, Daryl either tries to play peacekeeper or is a double agent (for Maggie, of course).

So Leah’s returned. Maybe it was the outfit but I was getting Last of Us 2 “Abby” vibes from her. Wonder what’ll go down with her and the gang. Kills one of the semi-main characters, maybe, and Daryl or Maggie take her out?
