Carol vs. the CRM

If our girl had known that Rick and Michonne were being held captive by the largest existing military since the Fall? She would have set herself up on the inside of the city to be the best undercover agent she was destined to be and when the moment came, she'd come in with all the firepower she could carry to take down the corrupt supporters of Beale & Co.

That's the spin-off between TWD & TOWL that we truly needed.

Bonus: Ezekiel offering support and manpower from the Commonwealth because he'd still move heaven and earth to be sure his queen was okay.

So on YouTube I found most of the twd villains themes and they’re really interesting. Be prepared for rants

Shane’s is almost hopeful and definitely not like the others since they all try to scare the viewer. I think it’s that way because Shane wanted to help. He did what he thought was best for the group. I personally didn’t like him but I can respect how he tried to save people. I don’t like it when people call Shane a villain because he was at most an antagonist. You can’t call Shane a villain unless you call S5 Rick a villain too.

The governor has two themes. The first one is very dramatic. It’s basically just pulsating and menacing maracas at the beginning. It’s much more angry than Shane’s since he was a much more angrier character. It shows the urgency that he felt when he wa attacking the group- because let’s be honest he did attack them a lot. The second one is calmer and I think it was played when he lost his daughter and when he burned Woodbury. It slowly gets louder throughout and I think that it represents his decent into madness. By the end of the theme it sounds much more like the first one which also proves my point further.

Negan also has two themes (technically three but we’ll get there). The first one is played in the season 6 finale when he kills Abraham. It’s not like the others in the way it barley counts as music at this point. It’s meant to sound intimidating and it does it well. Negan is an intimidating man so his theme has to be an accurate depiction of that. His second one is almost exactly the same but sounds even more ominous (if that’s even possible). It’s shorter and quieter but I’m not sure where it’s played. It further shows how intimidating Negan was in his first few seasons on the show.

Simon actually has a theme but only one. His is surprising long and slow paced. I think this is a representation of him being a phycopath or a sociopath(?) I don’t know the exact differences between them. If you listen to it you will know what I mean. I also believe that it might seem simon does thing just because he wants to but he also has a plan. I don’t know exactly for him though. The last few seconds definitely show how unhinged he is.

Alpha also has 2 (and a half) themes. The first one I think is more based off of the whisperers than alpha on her own. I don’t really have many ideas for this one other than the 6 notes that are the easiest to recognise fight over the top of the rest of the music just like how alpha is in charge of the whisperers and has their full respect. The last little bit is a lot slower and calmer too. This might represent Lydia but I’m not sure. The second one is definitely just based on alpha. It’s mostly quiet with ominous music played quietly in the background. It could represent how alpha looks past the rest of the whisperers and only focuses on her own goal but again, her themes confuse me 😔

Betas is terrifying and makes me want to cry. He only has one but I think that’s because we’d all have heart attacks from how scared we were if there was anymore. His still has those 6 main notes in there from alphas theme but instead of the music all working together, his is more chaotic. This shows how much more insane beta is from alpha. At the end it sounds a bit like a bell and then just a loud bang. Not sure where that comes into it but i thought it was interesting. Overall his is just pure, terrifying chaos and I have a love hate relationship with it.

Negan and alpha have a theme together which is odd. The start is more focused around Negan and his base guitar thing again but the 6 notes from the whisperers pop up too. Instead of either overpowering the other like they did in their respective themes it seems as if they are fighting to be in charge. The last part of the theme is Negan which could be representative of how Negan kills alpha.

The CRM has one too. If you have no idea what I’m talking about neither do I. I haven’t gotten this far in the comics yet, but from what I can see (or hear) it seems almost hopeful like Shane’s at the beginning. But as the music gets louder and more intense it also makes computer-like sounds. So maybe they’re doing experiments on people but I don’t know much about theses guys yet.

Okay now that 11 A is done I’ll talk about changes I’d make.

TBH there’s not a lot? Most of what I said in my first post stands. Less Reapers and more Commonwealth and Lydia. Also I would let the black people live.

Episode 4: I’d close out the fight with the CRM and have the Commonwealth be questioned on who the the hell they just fought. The Commonwealth says they don’t know, and are lying, as we see from Maggie’s face. Daryl, Maggie, and Negan get in a fight because Daryl and Negan (rightfully) don’t trust the Commonwealth. They continue on and the episode ends with them arriving. We would have the Commonwealth scenes of the next episode be in this one.

Episode 5: Keep Aaron torturing the whisperer. The gang reunites with Eugene, Yumiko, Princess, and Ezekiel, leading to an awkward moment between him and Negan. Maggie argues with Lance about getting the group (except for Negan) a fast pass to citizenship. Negan decides that it’s his time to go, knowing that this is Maggie’s home and he doesn’t belong here. Lydia begs him to stay and reminds him that he promised her he’d stay, and he reminds her that it was only “for now” and it’s time for her to leave the nest. He tells her that he’ll call her on a walkie and that she’s always welcome to visit. Maggie goes to talk to Pamela and the gang is placed in holding. Eugene, Yumiko, Princess, and Ezekiel’s shenanigans are kept.

Episode 6: Keep the creepy cannibals EXCEPT make them be evolving walkers (which would be hinted at in earlier episodes) We also meet Pamela, who guarantees the group citizenship (foreshadowing the Commonwealth’s corruption). The group is taken on a tour, and Lydia has a breakdown, realizing everything she’s missed out on.

Episode 7: Keep Eugene and co on walker duty and punching Sebastian. Maggie whispers something to Lance to get Eugene out and promises to make something up to him. The rest of Maggie’s group adjusts to Commonwealth life. Daryl is suspicious of what’s going on and interrogates Eugene about it.

Episode 8: Keep the storm but add evolving walkers. We see Maggie and Lance sneaking off to his office and Daryl following them. He catches them starting to undress and strangles Lance, knowing that Maggie clearly doesn’t want this. Daryl is imprisoned, and Pamela threatens to kick Maggie and co out. Maggie begs her not to, reminding her off the food, and Pamela agrees to let them stay and deliver her promise, but Daryl has to be executed. Mercer whispers to Maggie that he’ll help get them all out. Eugene begs “Stephanie” to come with them and she agrees, but has to go “pack.” They try to get Ezekiel to stay so he can get treatment but he refuses. The gang starts to escape with the food, but we see floodlights sweep on at the last second and the Commonwealth guards ordering them to freeze. They do, and we see the camera zoom in on “Stephanie,” who’s standing with the commonwealth guards. We keep the camera on the guards, who raise they’re guns. They start to fire, we hear screams, and then we fade to black.

I think your analysis is and your note that it is different for you because you jumped in with TOWL and hadn’t watched TWD is spot on. And I would also add how much of the promo somebody saw would be a factor in how they perceived the show/what they expected.

As someone who did watch TWD (though had finally stopped when Michonne/Danai left) and didn’t necessarily followed a lot of the promo.. I knew they said it was an epic love story and the heart of the show blablabla (and sidenote like..of course that’s what they’re gonna say, it’s the Rick and Michonne show, it’s a couple, it would be worrisome if it wasn’t a love story to some extent lol) but yeah I was definitely expecting more CRM stuff just because that’s what TWD does. And I’m not complaining. At all. If anything, I was dreading it. I was like, the less TWD shenanigans, the better! And I only watched the main show, for people who watched other shows as well the CRM expectation were even bigger. Iirc they did promote The World Beyond as something you might wanna watch to get more infos on wherever Rick is and whatever is going on with him (or at least heavily implied it). I remember thinking, if those Rick Grimes (then)movies ever happen, I’ll just read a quick recap somewhere cause nothing will make me tune in lol. And some people who did watch were then mad that the show provided no insights into whatever was going with Rick because that was the reason they watched… And now with TOWL it was also said, you will finally truly learn about the CRM and Beale and all of that… So again, while *I* personally have certainly no problem with it -I was here for Rick and Michonne only!- I think the lack of CRM *can be* a fair critique of the show tbh 🤷🏽‍♀️

Absolutely fair. Because I can only imagine how much build up has been going on through spinoffs leading up to the movie(s) that weren't movies but instead a mini-series that might be a limited series, but also might come back depending on #moods. TBH I've slowed down my watching of TWD because, even knowing what I know about their happy ending, I don't wanna see the bridge and the aftermath 😭

Rick stared her silently. Calm in his features, despite the constant suppressed hate and anger- what kept him living- "This place now is under the jurisdiction of the Civic Republic Military. Further resistance will not be tolerated." He stated, eyes locked on hers. Damn, she seemed insane. Considering the situation, she was supposed to look scared or depressed, yet, she seemed to be having fun. The CRM troop that accompanied Rick had already surrounded her community, the arsenal and main buildings already taken. He had practically emptied his gun and assault rifle killing the walkers all the noise had attracted- the intention wasn't to get the place overrun, but make it a colony; maybe he still had a couple of bullets in his Magnum, but he would rather not rely on them since an emergency always seemed to show up. "This isn't my blood." Rick said with coldness, eyes so hard to read- was he saying it to scare her? Or was he just stating the truth? Indeed...if one looked closely, he seemed quite unharmed- maybe soft bruises on his temple or forehead, but nothing more. The walkers, he killed all- the humans who tried to stop him, he also killed them. Her community didn't seem to have many firearms- many weapons but most of them empty. It was rather easy for his team to conquer the place. "There's no point for you to fight me. Even if you kill me, my forces already won." He was holding his killing stick, designed by the CRM to kill walkers, he had pierced the skull of two men with that as if they were nothing- as if their heads were eggs, easily breakable. Years with limited freedom had made him colder- his feelings darker, full of hate each day more- specially after finding out his old community was gone, the woman he loved, dead- The CRM knew that Rick Grimes would be useful though, and before the worst happened, they managed to rescue his two kids- Rick Jr and Judith now lived inside the walls of the CRM, and Rick now was their dog- despite hating so much what had been done to him, the progress of the CRM meant the progress of his kids, the children that motivated him to keep living, the only reason he hadn't taken his own life in an attempt to destroy the Civic Republic Military, now he was one of the most agents of the organization- they had gotten what they wanted, and now Rick wanted to complete his missions- to take her community was important, such important water supply under those grounds, a strategic spot for the military organization.

"Surrender, or I'll kill you, and demand cooperation from the second in command- and if they don't cooperate, I'll kill them as well, until I find someone who will agree and follow my orders. It's that simple."
