doesn't post art for two months > drops concept art for my season 5 AU > leaves again
whether this becomes something or not I guess we'll see how far motivation takes me, but I've been holding onto these for a bit and I realized whether I make it or not I should probably post more of my AU to get Some eyes if I can
backgrounds for the test page were made by photobashing stock images and free-to-use 3D models together and tracing/building off of them. work smarter not harder
happy new year!! have some pics of my half finished ocs!! Claire Paul (Ben's sister), Nicole Butterfield and Jenny Pitcher!! idk if Jenny and Claire are really considered ocs because technically they were in the game we just didn't see them so uhhh idk this is how I think they'd look 😰😰😰
The Walking Dead Season 6 - Episode 3, Chapter 4: Send A Message
As an enemy is dragged back to their own land, Clem and Violet take a train trip to their nearest friends, while letters speak volumes as to what's on the horizon.
Usually when it comes to how we create OCs it starts out with us wanting to make an OC for a certain character. So for example our first OC, Prisha, was made for Violet because we ship Clouis and we didn't want in our canon for Violet to be alone after everything she'd been through.
We also try to make sure each OC has their own motivation, drives and desires. So for Jesse we figured out that what drives him is trying to find his mom after the apocalypse broke out. We want to make sure that our ocs are their own people first and foremost and that they are well fleshed out so when we do write them with their person it feels like they are human and have depth to them, not that they simply exist to serve as that person's SO.
With each new OC we also try to add something that previous OCs before don't have whether that is a different ethnicity, sexual orientation, gender identity or disability that we haven't had before. We want to be able to make each of our OCs feel unique from one another and pre-existing characters and by expanding what we write about we're able to grow as writers while also discovering new little things about our OCs as they start to become fully formed.
Eventually each OC starts to develop almost on their own. We'll go from throwing things at the wall to see what sticks for an OC to just realizing certain things about them are true. Sometimes that leads the OCs down paths we wouldn't even want them to take but we know are true to them, like Renata's death in the OG TWDG universe.
Finally, with TWDG OCs it's fun to build up the lore of the world and explore possibilities the games didn't through our OCs. What if a character was living in America short-term but got permanently stuck here because of the apocalypse? What if someone used alternate methods from walker guts to hide - would they work? What exactly became of New Richmond and how do other communities near Ericson function? The more we write, the more we find that we want to explore in the future. It makes the whole process of OC making and writing endlessly fun.
I guess I should hop on the Paul family hc train with my own Pauls, as presented with picrew bc I’m too lazy to draw rn:
Ben’s mom, Josefine Paul.
She’s a poet who often writes about nature, she was visiting Georgia from Denmark for some inspiration when her car broke down by a goat farm and received help from Ben’s father (after accidentally scaring the shit out of her). She ended up staying with him and his family (with the excuse that she found inspiration there) and eventually she admitted to herself that she fell for him. (Important facts: she is a short and feisty woman. Do not underestimate her ability to obliterate you with just her words. Ben gets his nose + that “give me a fucking break!” Line from her)
Ben’s dad, Henry Paul.
Big dumbass. No thoughts. He’s an extremely kind and polite man despite not being the brightest. He worked and lived on his family’s goat farm for most of his life, but after he married Josephine and moved more into the city he became a stay-at-home father. He is a massive pacifist and next to never resorts to violence (of course if you threaten his family you basically are already dead), he is extremely slow to anger and will try to talk things out instead. (Important facts: mf is MASSIVE. Tall and buff and built like a giant, but somehow is afraid of hights??? Mf should be afraid of standing then. He wears a cowboy hat but the picrew didn’t have the option 😔💔. Ben gets his hight + gentle heart from him.)
Ben’s little sister, Clara Paul.
This little shit. She is an agent of chaos, she loves to watch drama unfold and fights. She’s 13, so your average shithead middle schooler. Ben and Clara argue a lot and he tells ppl she’s adopted (untrue) and she bites him for it. She actually adores Ben but would rather die then admit it. (Important facts: she has a very strong Roman nose from her father henry, she loves her nose despite people asking her if she’d get a nose job. Clem and duck would look up to her thinking she’s ‘so cool’ and they would become her ‘goons’ aka they do dumb shit with her.)
That’s a brief summary of them and I probably will talk about them more in the future bc they liven in my skull rent free.
anyways now that im done crying, would anyone be interested in a twdg oc discord? im thinking it could be fun to see peoples ideas and interact with others! if ur interested just sent a quick message to me !
