The Walten Files Theory
Hey, Hi, Hello! Part of me wants to start this off with a joyous “Hurrah! I think I solved this series!” but the other part of me wants to be resentful because I think I’ve managed to crack into an idea that I don’t think should or has existed before for as many horror/arg/animatronic things that I’ve seen or played. So, let’s just dig in before I send myself into a crisis.
I think Jacks mental state is split. He’s not Bon, he’s not Showbear, he’s not one single being at this very moment. All of them are real without being 100% of the truth, without “portraying Jack the right way” as Martin himself said.
Jack has a self destructive life. He’s got an almost emotional dependency, a toxic dependency, on his work. He outwardly states he’s asking Felix to take Edd and Molly to the event because he’s staying back to work on paperwork. He acknowledges that it’s important to them because he’s outwardly stating that he needs someone else to drive them. Any good parent who’s busy could very well say “no you’re not going and that’s final” but he recognizes it’s important and compromises. But he cannot, physically, leave or detach from his work.
He seems to actively prevent his two lives from crossing. He clearly loves his family, loves his work, but they cannot and should not ever cross. Ever. He avoids familial contact, exampled, again, by asking Felix to take the kids and staying back with the paperwork perhaps out of fear for making a mess of the dance by being worried about paperwork, yet he seems so connected to it, exampled by being a beloved husband, making characters to represent his own children to show them it's alright to be who they know they are, and then again to make an animatronic to keep his children happy or maybe representative of a part of himself.
This is where I think the split comes from.
Jack is a both kind hearted and lovable man who loves his family, he also is destroyed and so dependent on his work he’s mentally and physically unwell. He’s split on this, his aggressive nature and his stable calm nature he’s noted to have. This becomes two things.
Bon and a spirit haunting Bunnyfarm.
Let me explain.
Bon portrays aggression towards those who are associated with or work for Bunny smiles inc. He kills Susan, someone we can assume works for BSI. This falls in the same respect for Charles. But I also think this falls under his need for it all to be “perfect”, his need for his work to always be finished and set to go. This can be seen when he mistakes Brian for Sophie, stated by Brian, but also when it’s noted (on Brians wiki) that Bon tore out Brians eyes and tore apart his jaw to make him “beautiful” and to look “more like Sophie”. He’s trying to forcefully separate work from life again, he kills Rose so she leaves the restaurant alone and keeps away from it, he’s trying to kill Sophie for the same reason because we explicitly know she works for BSI.
This can be seen for his spirit haunting Bunnyfarm, the “beloved husband” “loving father”, side of him. He’s explicitly trying to help Sophie, from showing her the face of Charles and playing connect the dots with Charles and Boozoo, or showing a bloodied Sha. This is Jack trying to communicate with Sophie that she needs to be careful, she needs to get away from Felix. That’s why Felix is portrayed in a dramatic, traumatizing, evil way. He’s warning her, he’s trying to protect her. That’s why he showed her, presenting himself as Showbear, May 2nd.
I feel like this also makes sense on why Bon seems so odd of a placement for Jack given Bon nature not 100% lining up with how Jack’s seen or referred to. It answers the “why would he kill his wife?” question.
Bunnyfarm is Jack accounting for his OWN mistakes, and his OWN faults as a father and a husband, and is trying to ensure nobody else ever falls victim to what he started. Again, it’s why Felix is portrayed the way he is and why he keeps showing the victims faces.
This could then account for why Banny is wlw. Maybe he’s trying to explicitly tell Sophie it’s him by rewiring the way Banny acts, with Banny representative of Sophie and horse-girl of Jenny, and then Bon and Sha as Jack and Rose, along with Felix as Boozoo. I could go in-depth with the readings on Banny, Holly, and Boozoo if you’d all like, I’d be glad to. Therefore I would set Linda as Billy and, again, I could explain that.
The symbolism of Jack being trapped inside of Bon physically but longing to be with his family so, in his spiritual form, he rewires a game so he at least feels something again. He doesn’t want to be away but doesn’t want to be physically together.
Im not sure how much of this makes sense. If you do use this idea, please credit me! If I’m not the creator of this theory, then let me know and I’ll reroute credit accordingly but I can’t seem to find someone who’s also written a theory like this. So it would mean loads!
Thank you for reading if you’ve made it this far! I hope you’re all doing well!
