I absolutely adore how Emilie and Charles solve their emotionally tense moments by going to practice surgery together.

Safik for the ship meme!

Gives nose/forehead kisses - Merik. He can’t stop himself from kissing that newly crooked nose of hers. To anyone watching, it looks like a typical cute gesture, but really Merik carries a lot of guilt over Safi having her nose broken and not being there to protect her. It’s his way of saying “I’m sorry” (even though it’s not his fault).

Gets jealous the most - Merik is slightly ahead of Safi on this one, especially during the early stages of their courtship. Once they’re together, it’s not really a thing. Though Merik can’t help but get a little huffy whenever Safi comments on how Vaness is the most beautiful woman she’s ever seen, which is annoying often.

Picks the other up from the bar when they’re too drunk to drive - Merik. Merik likes all things order and letting himself get drunk to the point of not being able to drive would be a cardinal sin in his book. He’d give anything for everyone to forget that one embarrassing time when Kullen had to call Ryber to pick them up from The Cleaved Man in the middle of the night.

Takes care of on sick days - Neither likes being fussed over… and yet both enjoy fussing over the other when the other is sick.

Drags the other person out into the water on beach day - I think the question would be better phrased as “Who tosses the other person into the water on beach day?”

Gives unprompted massages - Safi. Idk if you know this but Merik isn’t the most chill dude.

Drives/rides shotgun - This is a constant source of bickering for the couple. Merik can’t stand Safi’s terrible driving and refuses to sit in the “death seat”, while Safi has zero patience for Merik driving 10 below the speed limit.

Brings the other lunch at work - It’s a rare occurrence as both Safi and Merik like to keep their relationship separate from their work life, but whenever one surprises the other, it automatically makes their day.

Has the better parental relationship - Does anyone have a good parental relationship in the Witchlands?

Tries to start role-playing in bed - Safi, but it only ends in a fit of laughter. Safi is a terrible actress and they both know it.

Embarrassingly drunk dancer - SAFI

Still cries watching Titanic - Merik. But to be clear, he’s more emotional about the ship sinking than the romance. The first time they watch it, he spends most of the movie lecturing Safi about what the captain should have done and if he were the one in charge, the ship never would have crashed into an iceberg in the first place. Safi subsequently bans the movie from date night.

Firmly believes in couples costumes - Safi. It’s hard enough getting Merik on board with costumes, nevermind couples costumes.

Breaks the expensive gift rule during Christmas - Merik. He doesn’t come from a lot of money and every year Safi tells him not to go crazy with the gifts. And every year he ignores her.

Makes the other eat breakfast - Safi. A banana is, decidedly, not a meal. Merik disagrees.

Remembers anniversaries - They share a mutual, quiet appreciation for milestones. So much of their relationship is built on growth - both individually and as a couple - and it’s important to remind themselves of that and celebrate their journey together and apart.

Brings up having kids - Merik. It’s something they’ve both thought about, but Merik’s the first one brave enough to bring it up. And by ‘brave’ I mean positively terrified.

Music recommendations: Anything by My Chemical Romance but "Disenchanted" is (in my opinion) one of the best, "blue" by keshi, and "Before You Go" by Lewis Capaldi 🙂

First of all holy I love these songs so much, and I’m not saying this just because I want to sound good. ”blue” is one of my favs now it has exactly the vibe I favorite!

The raw voice in ”Before I go” is so good and filled with feelings, love it! God,, I started to cry because the lyrics really spoke to me and all these emotions and memories I’ve tried to surpress came welling in. Still, thank you. Well damn haha this got deep

I listened to a few songs from My Chemical Romance and they are really good! Rock is one of my fav genres and this band really knows how to go with it!!

Rylen and Vix for the ship rating thing 🙂

Rylen was my first OTP for The Witchlands and still remains one of my favorites!  I’ve probably read Sightwitch more than any other book in the series.  I adore them!

Out of all the Witchlands ships, Vix is the one I feel the most neutral on.  Probably because Stix hasn’t gotten as much page time as the rest of the cast.  I am curious to see how things play out now that Stix is, well… you know….  👀

What kinds of things do you want to see in the next Witchlands book? There's so much that still has to be addressed, and so much stuff we're probably going to find out soon - but is there anything in particular you just can't wait for?

I can’t wait for the character dynamics within each of the newly established groups.  As of the end of Bloodwitch we have:

Safi, Iseult, Owl, Leopold, & Hell-Bards = CHAOS

Vaness and Vivia = POWER COUPLE (even though I ship Leopold and Vaness #notsorry)

Ryber and Cam (and Stix??) = my last two brain cells 

And then there’s Aeduan.  Alone. :’( 

I’m a little bummed about Aeduan being on his own, but in terms of direction, Sooz surprised me so much in Bloodwitch that anything could happen.

This is also kind of random, but I’m hoping we see Gretchya and Alma.  I know Iseult has issues with Alma, but I really like her and want to see her again.  Iseult is so insecure that her perception of Alma can’t be trusted.  She also knew Aeduan.  INTRIGUE.

9. What places are you hoping to see?

I REALLY want to see Saldonica!  I think we have a good chance of that happening since that’s where Gretchya and Alma were supposed to be headed.  Honestly, there are so many cool sounding places on the Witchlands map that I HAVE to get more of this world after the “main” series ends.

16. What do you think is wrong with Evrane?

I’m not sure… I think she’s a Paladin, but I think the Paladin’s rebirth was corrupted somehow.  Towards the end of Bloodwitch when Ragnor and Kullen (Bastien) are talking in the tent, Kullen makes a comment about Corlant being an “abomination”.  He’s clearly disgusted with his present reincarnation, so I think something is amiss with the Paladins coming back.
